@Antti_Viljakainen was, according to my memory, on Yle Puhe’s Pörssipäivä (Stock Market Day) in November, talking about the forest sector, where the company in question was interviewed. At that time, the company at least sounded worth exploring. Here’s a link for those interested.
From the SCA section title: Didn’t SCA specifically spin off its tissue business (Essity) and now only operates in other paper & pulp areas?
I changed the title.
Could I get a comparison to Norske Skog as well, please? You can choose the perspectives, but you would do that anyway. ![]()
Yeah, people here are shouting without considering distance and time.
SCA’s share price is around SEK 115. Nordea estimates the per-share value of SCA’s forest assets, covering over two million hectares, to be SEK 99, or about 86% of the share’s value. This suggests there might still be some upside potential for the actual business, even though the share has performed much better than average during the coronavirus turmoil. SCA has a lot of room for improvement in return on equity.
Anything new with the Swedish cellulose division?
Svenska Cellulosa AB SCA..
SCA Q2/2025 is out, and SCA published quite acceptable figures. Compared to Finnish forest companies, SCA is interesting because the company has completely ceased the production of printing papers. In addition, SCA is involved in SAF fuels together with ST1. The stock price has been stagnant for years, the longer the base…
In my opinion, the company’s valuation doesn’t look bad at all, especially if one assigns any option value to the biofuel business.
Q1 2026 is out and, given the economic situation, one can only state that there isn’t much to write home about.
Except for one footnote of a footnote, italics at the end are my own:
“January–March 2026 compared with January–March 2025
Revenue increased 10% to SEK 662m (603). Higher selling prices and higher delivery volumes
had a positive impact on revenue.
EBITDA increased 54% to SEK 206m (134). The EBITDA margin was 31.1% (22.2). The
increase was primarily related to higher electricity prices, commissioning of Fasikan and higher
prices in the liquid biofuels business.”
The upcoming quarters will be quite interesting as all possible fuel is being sourced to keep planes in the air.
Palantirs vd köper skog i Härjedalen för 235 Mkr SCA seems to be selling a “patch of forest” to Palantir’s CEO. The price per hectare dropped really low, but I suppose that’s partly explained by what the SCA representative also said in the article, that it’s not an optimal area for forestry. At SCA, the market hasn’t really seemed to value forest holdings much either.
