Spinnova announced on Wednesday that it has signed a non-binding letter of intent (LOI) with the Portuguese yarn spinning mill Tearfil Textile Yarns. The aim of the agreement is to ensure the availability of SPINNOVA® fibers in the future and to support the industrial adoption of the fiber. In our view, the news is a slightly positive signal of the value chain’s commitment.

Would it be time now, in connection with the financial statements, to come clean and tell all owners what the real situation is and what the chances are for taking a decisive step in production technology? That is, to develop the manufacturing process to be sufficiently cost-effective within a short timeframe. That is what decides this case. Seriously, the alternative is also to liquidate the assets and distribute the remaining scraps of the investment—the cash—to the owners. Following the press releases and events is starting to be tragicomic, sorry.

The CEO already gave an answer to that a few months ago—we haven’t given up and are creating an ecosystem around the product. This initiative has indeed progressed and partners have appeared.

However, the most important one, meaning a partner who INVESTS in scaling, is still missing. Without one, the whole thing will go belly up.

ANTTI’S & KAISA’S comments on how JACK & JONES is expanding its cooperation with Spinnova

Spinnova and international fashion house BESTSELLER are expanding their cooperation as JACK & JONES adds new products made from SPINNOVA® fiber to its selection. The news is a continuation of the companies’ long-standing partnership and supports the commercialization path of the fiber produced with Spinnova’s technology. In our assessment, however, actual delivery volumes will remain small in the coming years due to the very limited production capacity for SPINNOVA® fiber.

Here are the preview comments from Antti and Kaisa as Spinnova reports its H2 results on Thursday

H2 was the company’s first full reporting period under the new strategy following the termination of the Suzano partnership. In the report, we are particularly monitoring comments on the progress of strategy implementation, the development of the technology’s cost competitiveness, and the role of the consortium being built around the fiber. The company needs to make progress in these areas to find parties interested in investing based on the company’s technology and for Spinnova to simultaneously capture revenue growth. We do not expect Spinnova to provide guidance for 2026, as we estimate the current year will be mostly spent on developing the aforementioned factors.

Antti and Kaisa’s quick comments on Spinnova’s H2 results.

Spinnova released its H2 report this morning, which was the company’s first full reporting period since the decision to terminate the Suzano cooperation. For a development-stage company like Spinnova, short-term figures play a secondary role, so focus in the report was particularly on comments regarding the development of the technology’s cost-competitiveness and consortium building. At first glance, the company seems to have made clear progress in reducing technology production and investment costs in H2 (incl. a 50% drop in energy consumption in MCF production). However, the time remaining until a commercial breakthrough and/or the difficulty of overcoming obstacles along the way remains very hard to estimate, even in light of the new information.

And here is the fresh H2 report on Spinnova from Antti and Kaisa right after.

We reiterate our Reduce recommendation and EUR 0.45 target price for Spinnova. We have made no material changes to our forecasts for the progress of the commercialization of Spinnova’s technology following the company’s H2 report, although the company seems to have moved forward in its strategy, especially in reducing technology investment and production costs. However, the risk-reward ratio remains exceptionally difficult to grasp, which is why we maintain a cautious stance on Spinnova for the time being.
