Investing in a mining company in the ramp-up phase and in junior mining stocks is a bit like this. Every time something goes wrong, you can multiply the costs and the timeline by three. And things go wrong constantly when building a new mine with a new organization, and in addition to the geology, you are up against both regulators and activists.
The comeback of the Norwegian mining sector has died with this, so it’s better to just sell while you can still get something for it and invest in, say, some lower-risk African country.
