Kesko - Retail sector expert

I honestly feel a bit bad for the folks at Kesko because of the headlines being made out of this. The communications team has probably had to cut their vacations short because of the “uproar” to answer questions from tabloid newspapers. The journalists could have looked into why this happened themselves—though, to be fair, they actually did, yet they still went to Kesko to ask what it was all about.

Used transport vehicles are often sold from here to Africa and the Middle East with the decals removed, but sometimes they are left on because removal costs money, and the buyers don’t care what’s written on the sides. We’ve seen similar news stories and social media posts before where a company’s branding has been left on a vehicle, and professional drivers just smile when an old work truck of theirs is spotted somewhere in Africa. In this case, the media attention is, of course, greater than usual.
