For me, Elisa is a good example of the “buy the stock of what you use” mentality. Or rather, how poorly things turn out when you do the exact opposite…
A couple of years ago, I switched my long-standing cable broadband away from Elisa to a Valokuitunen connection because they offered free digging and installation. It seems like the entire neighborhood went with that first mover, and it mostly just annoys me why later-acting idiots keep digging up the streets again…
Now when I switched my mobile subscription—granted, I had already been with DNA in between…—I just picked whatever gave me a completely basic deal to save even a few euros a month; it’s totally fine if the speed drops to 100 Mbps or even less, as long as the data is unlimited. Elisa had no deals to offer, only way too fancy plans.
None of those personal choices caused any major second thoughts regarding holding Elisa’s stock, though… You get the impression that the industry is well and truly competed into a stalemate, and that kind of situation isn’t great for a shareholder.
