Amazon’s backlog (mostly AWS) almost tripled year-over-year to 578 billion. For comparison, AWS’s Q3 revenue was 46 billion.
This is why Amazon’s capex is the largest in the world. CEO Andy Jassy also commented on the 2027 investments for the first time just now on the earnings call:
“We still expect 2026 cash capex of approximately $220 billion. The majority for AWS, and expect to spend meaningfully more in 2027.”

Cloud services (AWS) operating profit grew 55% year-over-year. It already accounts for 63.3% of Amazon’s total operating profit.
Amazon forecasts AWS to grow 40% in 2027 and 2028.

CEO Jassy concluded his remarks by predicting that Amazon will reach $2 trillion in revenue. Revenue this year is approximately 830 billion.
“What we’re building at Amazon is unlike anything that’s ever been seen before. There has never been a business with a trillion dollars of annual revenue. Amazon is on a path to have two of them in AWS and stores. It’s rare, and we’re energized by what’s ahead.”
