90. Torsti
When I met this guy, I immediately got to scratch and pet him a bit, until he went off to chase his colleague. For a long time, @Verneri_Pulkkinen was the pet of Ruoholahti, but now other challengers have arrived, and one of them is Torsti.
Torsti is a sympathetic and sweet gentleman whom no one can help but like. His social skills are great because he puts others in a good mood and doesn’t hurt anyone’s feelings. Unlike the stereotypical Finnish man, he knows how to show his emotions beautifully and openly.
Among other things, he has appeared on an Inderes video as well.. (at the very beginning of the video, you can even hear him crying
)
Handsome man, isn’t he? ![]()

And here is the same man with his human:

1. Tell us in thirty words who you are.
I’m Torsti, a 4-year-old Australian Labradoodle. I’ve been doing office work since I was a puppy, previously in the IT sector and now here. My hobbies include sailing and secretly eating goose poop. In a jazz band, I’d be the triangle player: I get noticed, but I don’t lead.
2. Tell us who your human in Ruoholahti is and describe her in 30 words.
Tuulikki is 39 years old and works as the Head of HR (Henkilöstöjohtaja). Even though we don’t have bosses, she sometimes tries to give me orders. Most of the time our thoughts align well, and I agree to her requests. We like going for walks, runs, and sailing.
3. Tell us three things that even few people at the Ruoholahti office know about you.
-
- I love wading and running in the shallows, but I don’t like to swim.
-
- I have “godparent-friends” Joonas and Veera, who also follow Inderes content. They were delighted about my new job! Greetings to them!

-
- The wolf/dog reported in the news (Helsingin Sanomat) once bit me at the Ruoholahti metro station. There was blood and everything, but it didn’t hurt and I wasn’t scared. Tuulikki was a nervous wreck.
4. Would you tell us about your four-legged friends who are with you there in Ruoholahti?
I have inspired and served as a role model for two other doodles belonging to Inderes employees, one of whom, Kasper Mellas’s Viljo, is at work with us occasionally. He is still a work experience trainee (tet-harjoittelija) who can only manage shorter workdays.
Elsa is a lovely dachshund with whom our… work friendship has deepened. Well, to be honest, Elsa licks my gums every time we meet. It’s quite nice.

Then sometimes there are other dogs at the office whom I haven’t had the chance to meet face-to-face yet. For the time being, we are still on three different floors, but at the turn of the year, we’ll move into a unified space in another building, still in Ruoholahti.

5. What does your job description involve at the office?
At first, the plan was to come to work only a few days a week, but the rest of the staff kept asking after me so diligently that now I go to the office almost every day.
In our typical style, the job description isn’t very strictly defined; I do whatever requires attention. I’ve taken charge of both earnings broadcasts and other videos (images). That Fortum one was my debut, on my third day of work. Tuulikki heard about it from a friend, and then we had discussions about whether this is a territory that requires my presence. I’ve received nothing but positive feedback from the community regarding my appearances! I’m also open to “twigs” (criticism), they are favorites too.

I attend meetings, sometimes awake and sometimes sleeping. Then people come to chat and scratch me, play tug-of-war, and sometimes I take them for a walk. Visitor groups are wonderful; they all love me and I often find new besties. I’m quite good at reading situations—who wants me in their lap and who not so much. You never know what a workday will hold!
Last autumn, I was on an assignment in Stockholm for a couple of months; it was new and exciting. The work there was similar to here, and I also learned a bit of Swedish.
My workday also includes metro commutes, during which I sometimes choose a new person who needs some relaxation. I lean against their leg and let them scratch me, staying quietly close. I think this is just as important for me as it is for that person.
6. What is the best and what is the worst thing at the office?
The best thing is the colleagues. That feeling when, after a long night, you get to the office door in the morning, Tuulikki opens it, and I get to charge full speed down the hallway to check who’s there, get some scratches, drink office water, throw pillows on the floor… Oh boy. People here love their work, but I bet I run in with the most enthusiasm and the fastest!
The worst things are the lunch breaks that I don’t get to join. Then I press the panic button and whimper like there’s no tomorrow. And it’s also sometimes sad to leave work; I occasionally have tasks frustratingly unfinished when Tuulikki already wants to leave.
7. You have to choose four people from Ruoholahti—whose presence do you look forward to the most and why?
This is easy. My number one is Antti Viljakainen, Antti Viljakainen. Man, Antti is the best. He has a “real dividend jar” on his desk, and I always run first to say hi to Antti when I get to visit the ninth floor. For all I care, his work and calls could be interrupted when I arrive. Sometimes I have to raise my voice a little there. Well, we’re still practicing office etiquette on both sides, and Antti has learned well.
Then next is Minna Avellan. Minde gave me my most beloved toy, which I don’t even have the heart to gut. And she introduced me to Elsa. And she gives treats. With Minna, I feel like I’m a fine boy.
Third is Mikael Rautanen. Mikael always gets me all riled up and excited when he comes to the office, and many days he wants to have little scratching moments on the sofa <3
Then Karoliina Loikkanen. Karoliina helps me sharpen up if I get too enthusiastic. But she also joins in the games when she has time from work.

7. If you could teach one thing to all Inderes forum members with the push of a button, what would it be and why?
Don’t scratch me on the head; my sides, behind the ears, and my belly are nicer. You wouldn’t like it either if someone always patted you on the head first thing.
8. How do you think investing and saving benefit dogs, or do they benefit at all?
Money is an instrumental value, and as long as profits are regularly realized into my stomach, investing is also in the interest of dogs.
9. What else would you like to say and wish to our forum members?
I send peace and hope to everyone who needs them.
And also, you’re welcome to say hi to me! See you! Have a wonderful summer!
Thank you Torsti and thank you Tuulikki! ![]()

Don’t be a boring, cranky X/Twitter nitpicker; be a “Torstian” who brings good cheer to everyone! ![]()
The world needs more Torstis, because kindness and goodwill move the world forward.
Thank you and have a great weekend everyone! ![]()
