American electric car manufacturer Tesla is postponing the start of production of its controversial Cybertruck pickup until early 2023.
Before starting mass production, Tesla is refining the pickup’s appearance and features to make them even more appealing, according to a source familiar with the matter, cited by Reuters news agency.
I would rather wait for an official announcement from Tesla than trust these “informed” sources. When it comes to Tesla, there have been quite a few news stories that have ultimately turned out to be false information. Well, January 26th is soon, and I assume we will hear the official truth then. I also assume that Cybertruck production will begin in H2.
” So I’m giving Tesla FSD an “F” when it comes to self-driving. In fact it clearly shouldn’t have that name, as many have pointed out. It should have a driver-assist name, so I will call it “Street Autopilot”. ”
Could FSD/Mobileye/others be moved here now that one has been created for it
I changed the title, as some crazy person has given me that possibility, so perhaps this will be easier to find in the future:
Yes, seconded, i.e., all autonomous driving and its development concerning Tesla FSD, Mobileye, Waymo, Lidar, and others, should go into the designated discussion thread.
What do you mean? Do you consider the story to be bad or biased in some way? In my opinion, the story was a factual long-term test report. Both good and bad features were found in the Tesla. It was also mentioned that many shortcomings observed in the test unit have been corrected in new versions. It wasn’t a perfect car, but neither are other cars.
I found some of the comments strange, and I didn’t really find much praise for the car. Of course, this could be the case, as I don’t have experience with the vehicle in question. Among other things, it was criticized that the rear end slides out with friction tires and that they wear unevenly. I would argue that the same phenomenon can be observed with any powerful rear-wheel-drive car. And it didn’t even state which of the listed faults had already been corrected. It just mentioned that some had been fixed.
Everything always comes on time and as promised. And well. I doubt people will wait for them much. I once canceled my Model 3 order for the same reason, and I must say it was one of the best decisions of my life.
This doesn’t bother me too much, at least. The company is known to invest heavily in manufacturability, as in this case.
Design for Manufacturability (DFM) will certainly benefit investors in the future, as products will generate healthy margins for a long time instead of rushing to market in hopes of quick stock market gains.
Traditional car manufacturers are increasingly spending their advertising money on their electric cars.
An example of this is Audi, which now spends more money on marketing electric cars than traditional ones.
This sounds reasonable for Audi, but the biggest beneficiary of this is Tesla, which doesn’t market, yet dominates the electric car market globally. The funniest thing about this is that Tesla benefits the most from Audi’s marketing. However, Audi has no alternatives; they have to greenwash their brand due to Dieselgate.
