Scout Gaming Group - Daily fantasy sports

Scout’s CEO’s presentation from last week can now be found on YouTube:

Now that I’ve looked at the presentation more closely, it has five slides with pictures of BetMGM’s different fantasy games or services. It’s really not possible that they would put so many pictures if there was no cooperation. But are those games live yet? I tried to find them on BetMGM’s website but couldn’t. Although I haven’t registered, so could it be behind that? At least I could view the Sports section and fantasy wasn’t visible there at all.

You can access BetMGM’s site from here if someone is registered and can check:

I also tried to look for it, but couldn’t find it. I agree, it would be really misleading marketing, and companies like that are very particular about where and who can use them as references. It’s good to note that BetMGM doesn’t have fantasy games, and there aren’t many B2B providers, even though it’s very popular in America.

Guessing: I’ve gone through MGM and Scout’s press releases and presentations. It could be that with Scout’s new free Social (the word “social” is overemphasized in many contexts) sportsbook, BetMGM is targeting states where online gambling or betting is not allowed. Furthermore, I see that it will be integrated into their loyalty program, where points are collected. Hopefully, Scout will also get into states where games can be played for money. This is indeed guesswork and delusional combining of things. In a year, we’ll be wiser, or perhaps not.

Is the market value of this scout starting to slip to a level where a larger player like Evo/Kambi would acquire it?

Fortunately, the insiders still have a large ownership stake in the company, which of course provides protection for the price at which the company would be sold…

It’s difficult to comment on a potential acquisition; you can never rule it out.

This seems to be the free-to-play service provided by Scout, launching on June 8th.

The share price is suffering, insider trading today, 3500 pcs.

The one-million-euro European Championship tournament fell short, but the 20k tournament for specific games is filling up well.

I would definitely like some information from the company about Dreamsport (dreamsport), it seems to have 11k users already.

Scout Gaming Group: Scout Gaming and Razer Inc partners up for Fantasy eSports

Scout Gaming has entered into a partnership agreement with the world’s leading lifestyle brand for gamers, Razer Inc. Scout Gaming has developed and will host a mobile app that will enable Razer users to participate in Fantasy eSports tournaments.

Scout Gaming will offer its unique fantasy platform for esports to Razer’s current user communities and channels.

The collaboration will be operated through a yet to be disclosed brand, based on Scout Gaming’s proprietary tech stack.

In the short term, the partnership is expected to have a low influence on Scout’s revenues but with a potential long term significant impact.

New agreement.

A significant partner brings Razer! Good news, they are apparently creating their own brand for this platform. Many networks are now underway, but everything just takes time to implement.

Now there was the first direct advertisement for Dreamsport as well:

18.6. New gambling law presented today

The new gambling law has now passed. The coming months will show whether this acted as a potential blocker for Norsk Tipping to launch.

Edit: @LakeBoodom I meant exactly that, has this been a hindrance to approval, and now that the new law has come into force, can Scout’s fantasy games also be approved? Pure speculation, but that has been pending for a long time, as has Scout’s approval.

Sorry, you mentioned starting as a blocker, so do you see the new law as a negative thing for the approval of fantasy sports? Or did you mean (as a positive) trigger ?

The anticipated directed share issue; for once, the worst expectations were not met. The subscription price matches yesterday’s closing price, and there are no warrants. Does it rarely happen in issues like this that there’s no discount to the closing price? On the other hand, the stock has been falling for a long time, but the organizer and subscribers probably could have squeezed out more if they had wanted to.

I was a little surprised that the main owner was willing to increase their stake, or at least keep it the same. It’s unlikely that things have gone as expected there.

“Ellerston Capital Limited, Topline Capital Partners LP, Lupus alpha Investment GmbH, SPSW Capital GmbH, Scobie Ward (SWIM Capital), Knutsson Holdings AB and Provobis Holding AB are entitled to subscribe in the Directed Share Issue. The Company has received subscription commitments from all of the subscribers.”

Can this be understood to mean that Scobie Ward would have wanted to subscribe for more?

Good, rather small offering in this situation when it was necessary. That gives them at least another year of construction time :+1:

I’ll continue observing. In the presentation I linked earlier, on page 19, one of the games in Scout’s selection was Bracket Challenge, and in that image, it was the NCAA Bracket Challenge. And there’s also the PLAYMGM logo directly there.

Well, MGM had an NCAA Bracket Challenge earlier this year, coincidence or not?

There has been speculation about Norsk Tipping’s situation. Their website contains a strong hint that it’s coming soon.

My own translation of the text:

Participate in fantasy testing!
A unique opportunity to influence (the development)

Yes, unfortunately, there has been no change there; that field has been like that since at least March. I check it from time to time to see if it has changed.

Atg.se was supposed to have a soft launch during Q2, but nothing has appeared on their site, so it’s unclear what “soft launch” means in this context. There was supposed to be a proper opening before the Premier League started, and ATG should still make it in time for that.

“The companies have agreed to jointly launch Scout Gaming’s award-winning DFS product on ATG.se with a soft launch aimed at the second quarter 2021, followed by a wider marketing push in the third quarter, in time for the start of English Premier League and other major European sport leagues.”

Procurement contract dated 19 March 2021, extending the Scout and Norsk Tipping deal until 12 February 2023. The short description talks about further piloting and delivery of the product itself!

“Norsk Tipping intends to procure related services for further pilot testing and delivery of the Fantasy service from Scout Gaming Group (Scout). The contract also covers moderate development within the limit of the Norwegian government’s standard terms and conditions for IT procurements (SSA-L) 2018. An agreement has been negotiated with Scout Gaming Group, as an expansion of the existing SSA-L contract. The contract duration is 12 months from the expiry date of the existing contract. The existing contract expires on 12 February 2022.”

“Value excluding VAT: 900 000.00 NOK”

Official news regarding Dreamsport

“Affiliate deals with over 15 betting brands in over 100 countries where the free-to-play users come from have been signed, some of the affiliate deals are with existing B2B clients of Scout, where dreamsport users will be exposed strategic conversion opportunities that will allow them to play Scout games for real money or convert to partner products where suitable.”

Edit: Signs of awakening in the stock, and one more insider purchase last week, only announced today.

I was going through Betsson’s Q1 presentation and even there I found a mention of the Brazilian Fantasy! It’s clearly a big deal within Betsson as well, so let’s hope for expansions to other countries.

Considering Knutsson’s involvement in Scout, it’s surprising how long it took to add DFS. Hopefully, they will integrate their Betsson FC product across all Betsson sites when it’s ready.
