Today I was just negotiating a deal on an all-electric GLC 2026, and the digital add-on services have annual fees of about €4,000 if you were to take all the driver assistants and the alarm package for a new car (renewals every 3–6 years). Also, the service contract was, if I remember correctly, €67/month. This is for an electric car that has almost nothing to maintain. If people buy and pay for these, then maybe Mercedes stock will start to look interesting. It’s exactly this recurring billing that brings companies a nice stream of income, which is why I personally avoid them as they create continuous expenses.
The car has a serviceable and openable battery, which is good in terms of repair costs, as well as readiness for bidirectional charging. Not yet operational. In the future, the car can be connected to the home’s electrical system.
Edit: Not all additional services had annual fees. Only some.
