Janne Kuivalainen has been appointed as Kempower’s Chief Technology Officer and a member of the Extended Management Team. He has a background in the following companies: Danfoss (Power Electronics and Drives), ABB, Vacon.
Previously, in January of this year, this role was announced as follows:
A new role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will be established in the Global Management Team. The goal of the new technology function is to ensure a strong focus on technology, research, architecture, and holistic product development from hardware to software. Kempower’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sanna Otava will serve as interim CTO until the position is filled and the new director begins in the role.
Seems like a suitable candidate. Certainly not an unknown player in large-scale projects.
Kuivalainen’s previous role was in Danfoss’s Power Electronics and Drives segment, where he served as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the Drives business.
In this role, he was responsible for the strategic development of the global product portfolio and the technology roadmap. Previously, he held the position of Senior Vice President, Global Product Management & Development at Danfoss Drives, leading a massive global R&D unit. He has spearheaded strategic initiatives including software platforms and AI-based design productivity.
The total revenue of the Danfoss Group in 2024 was approximately 9.7 billion euros, with the Power Electronics and Drives segment accounting for about 25%. This means that the revenue of Kuivalainen’s former department alone is approximately 2.4 billion euros per year.
The fact that Kuivalainen has served as CTO in such a massive (€2.4 billion) and global business unit, which competes daily against giants like ABB and Siemens, is a huge advantage for Kempower.
One excellent recruitment after another from Kempower’s board over the past year.
Kempower’s management team certainly isn’t lightening the cost structure. The management team is becoming so large that they better start turning a profit soon…
If you scan the tax records to see how much Kempower’s management team members earn, it’s about time we start getting some value for that money. So far, the “value” has mostly been losing money
