The Finnish company FAAST uses Cactos batteries for this purpose (as well). They also sell electricity to the reserve markets.
I don’t quite understand what the benefit of these megawatt charges is?
Who drives for 4h, charges for 9 min, and drives for another 4h without breaks? If you can get gas in 3 minutes, why are ABCs and Prismas full of cars? They could just drive to their destination, right? Maybe if you don’t have home charging, but I’ve been without home charging for 6 years myself, and I extremely rarely go out specifically to charge, even if the battery could be filled in 9 minutes. Charging is handled while grocery shopping or during other activities.
Maybe taxis can utilize this?
Personally, I don’t want to stand by the car for 9 minutes after a 2-4 hour drive before I can go about my business. If, on the other hand, I go for a restroom break/coffee/meal, I’m blocking someone else’s charging… or I would have to come and move the car in the middle of my errands.
There will likely not be 24 plugs in one place like with Kempowers, and even with those, the car is always ready before the person and “blocking” the next person’s charge.
Nice to have, but not a revolutionary invention.
