Hi Forum Members!
As you may have noticed, the coronavirus thread has been closed for a while now, and I have now personally closed the Russia’s aggressions thread as well (and removed some old, already closed threads just for cleaning purposes). I made this decision purely based on the fact that, fundamentally, discussing coronavirus and Russia’s aggressions does not advance the Forum’s purpose as a Forum specifically for investing. Furthermore, if something happens in the aforementioned areas that would clearly affect stock markets and thus investing, you are very welcome to discuss it in the Stock Market Direction thread
@terva_xyz, because you had invested significant time in creating the Russia thread, I did not delete it – it can still be found, and all old content remains there for reading. If, for example, something truly significant for stock markets and investing happens in the realm of conflicts, reopening that thread can be considered. However, the main point in closing both of the aforementioned threads is that, at best, topics that currently affect very few investors and are somewhat politically charged do not fundamentally belong on an Investment Forum, because they do not serve the Forum’s purpose and culture (as I have detailed above). I will also quote @Verneri_Pulkkinen regarding the Russia thread, in that conflicts rarely have anything other than a very temporary or very mild effect on the overall direction of stock markets.
