Exel Composites

I suspect that Kauppalehti (KL) article is just a piece where the journalist’s understanding is insufficient. I wouldn’t spend any more time on it.

That is exactly how it goes. Data centers and electrification in general increase electricity consumption. More electricity needs to be produced. One of the cheapest ways, favored by the green transition, is wind power. Building these blades requires a product for which Exel has a functional solution. Additionally, energy needs to be transmitted. Exel has semi-finished products for this as well.

EDIT: It also occurred to me, could Google have come to Finland several years ago having signed a PPA (Power Purchase Agreement)? Meaning they commit to buying the entire output of a wind farm. Consequently, one data center may directly increase wind power capacity. But even then, Exel’s components aren’t sold directly there. They buy the power plant from the best supplier, and then it’s partly a matter of chance whether Exel’s gear is in there or not.
