From Enento’s perspective, there are positive signs regarding credit demand in Finland. The Finance Finland (Finanssiala) new bank barometer was published on September 10th. The survey was conducted in August. A couple of quotes from the report:
“According to the bank barometer, household credit demand clearly picked up during the late summer and also exceeded bank managers’ expectations. The slump in the spring thus appears to have been temporary.”
“Bank managers expect household credit demand to continue growing in the fourth quarter of the year. In particular, demand for loans taken out for purchasing and renovating a home is estimated to increase. Unlike in the previous couple of surveys, credit demand for purchasing consumer goods is now also expected to increase more than before. This supports forecasts that private consumption is finally picking up.”
