Hyperion’s main facility is currently in the UK, where a supply agreement regarding materials has been made with an operator called LKAB Minerals. In Finland, production volumes are likely small and pilot-like. Based on this, I would consider it probable that material is supplied mainly to the UK, which lowers the competitiveness of Finnish suppliers. I would therefore assume that LKAB is the primary material supplier and that the solution is based on the company’s own technological expertise.
The company’s materials state the following:
“Hyperion’s micro‑factories use 75 % less structural material, and support recycled industrial waste (slag, fly‑ash, tailings) to lower embodied CO₂ by up to 90%.”
These are the same materials that Betolar, in particular, has been working on developing.
