According to the article below, Amazon has approached its sellers to ask how Trump’s tariffs are affecting their business.

The message requests information regarding pricing, logistics, and warehouse deliveries, among other things. Many sellers aim to keep prices unchanged, but some may have to pass tariff costs on to consumers. Tariffs create pressure especially for businesses relying on imports from China.

Key Points

  • Amazon is reaching out to sellers to see how President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs are impacting their businesses.
  • The email asks how the “current U.S. tariff situation” has affected sellers’ sourcing and pricing strategies, logistics operations and plans to ship goods into Amazon warehouses.
  • Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said last week that sellers may have to pass the cost of tariffs onto consumers.

Amazon has delayed negotiations for some data center lease agreements.

This may be related to economic uncertainty; although CEO Andy Jassy previously stated that the company does not intend to reduce data center construction, some new projects have now been paused.

"Key Points

  • Analysts at Wells Fargo wrote in a report on Monday that they heard over the weekend about Amazon pausing lease conversations with colocation partners.
  • Earlier this month Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said he didn’t see the company pulling back on constructing data centers."

Amazon and Nvidia executives assure that the construction of data centers required by artificial intelligence is not slowing down.

Wall Street has been concerned about a possible slowdown, but according to Amazon, their plans have not significantly changed, and Nvidia agrees with the view of continuous growth in demand.

Electricity capacity equivalent to up to 50 new nuclear power plants may be needed to support artificial intelligence by 2027.

"Key Points

  • Amazon and Nvidia executives said they only see power demand rising due to artificial intelligence.
  • Kevin Miller, Amazon’s vice president of global data centers, said the tech company’s data center plans have not changed significantly.
  • “We haven’t seen a pullback,” said Josh Parker, Nvidia’s senior director of corporate sustainability."

Amazon plans to spend approximately 4 billion dollars by 2026 to expand its delivery network to smaller communities across the United States.

The goal is to speed up deliveries even to sparsely populated areas where many logistics companies are withdrawing. With this investment, Amazon plans to triple its rural logistics and shorten delivery times by up to half.

Amazon started 2025 strong, in a way… revenue grew significantly from last year and profit improved clearly.

The company’s cloud services unit AWS grew strongly. CEO Andy Jassy stated he was particularly pleased with the pace of innovation and the continuous improvement of customer experiences. He highlighted, among other things, the new smarter Alexa+, even faster Prime deliveries, more advanced AWS AI solutions, and a successful satellite launch in the Project Kuiper initiative, which aims to bring broadband connectivity to areas where it is not yet available.

Well,… the company exceeded market expectations in terms of profit, revenue, and operating margin, even though AWS fell slightly short of forecasts - which is not a good thing. The outlook for the second quarter is cautiously positive: revenue is estimated to grow by 7–11 percent and operating income to be between 13–17.5 billion dollars. Results for North American and international businesses improved, and AWS continued its strong earnings growth, but AWS still fell short of expectations this time.

CEO Andy Jassy said he was hopeful that the company could emerge from the current tariff uncertainty stronger than before. He referred to the coronavirus pandemic as an example of a situation where Amazon’s wide selection and affordable prices brought the company additional market share during difficult times. I’m a bit nervous about such talk/explanations, even though there might be some truth to them this time as well.

He also noted that while tariffs increase costs, not all sellers necessarily pass them on to prices, which could give Amazon an advantage. Uncertainty about tariffs is reflected in the company’s more cautious earnings guidance, and Amazon has prepared by bringing goods into warehouses in advance to manage prices.

Amazon’s stock has dipped significantly from its highs and Jeff B wants to sell his shares… okay, he’ll still have plenty after the sales, but this is certainly not a positive signal.

Blue Origin probably needs more funding this year than usual, as operations need to move forward from the first test flight. Five billion sounds like a pretty good investment for them…

According to the tweet below, Amazon’s AWS cloud service is huge and profitable; its annual revenue is 120 billion dollars, growth of almost 20 percent, and an operating profit margin of 40% - despite large investments.

Well, nothing new in itself, of course, but a good reminder.

The article below explains how Amazon has expanded its online pharmacy services in the United States by now also offering pet prescription medications in cooperation with the Vetsource service.

Common medications for dogs and cats, such as dewormers and treatments for chronic conditions, can be ordered through Amazon, but the medications are delivered by Vetsource. Orders require veterinary approval, and delivery time is usually 2–6 days.

The new service expands Amazon’s position in the health sector, and the company is now competing in this category with, among others, Chewy and Walmart.

Below is a story about Amazon’s boss’s ramblings. He told shareholders that Trump’s tariffs have not yet affected consumer demand or prices. Amazon continues to focus on keeping prices low, even though some sellers have raised their prices.

"Key Points

  • Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said Wednesday that the company hasn’t seen any signs of consumers tightening their wallets in the face of President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs.
  • “We have not seen any attenuation of demand at this point,” Jassy said during a question and answer portion of the company’s annual shareholder meeting."

Amazon-owned Zoox has for the second time in a month announced a recall related to a software issue.

The recall affects 270 robotaxis following an accident in San Francisco where an unmanned Zoox collided with an e-scooter rider, who sustained minor injuries.

The previous software error was related to a collision in Las Vegas. Zoox’s vehicles are still in the testing phase, while Waymo already offers commercial robotaxi services.

Below is a Bloomberg article, which is not behind a paywall, detailing a collaboration involving Amazon and Stellantis, focused on creating the SmartCockpit project, which is now apparently coming to an end.

The project aimed at developing vehicle software, where cars were intended to become an “extension of the home” through personalized functions such as heating, navigation, and home automation. The collaboration was supposed to help Stellantis compete with major players like Tesla and BYD and offer Amazon a model for expanding software to other car brands.

Software challenges have been a significant obstacle, at least for traditional car manufacturers. Stellantis has a complex model lineup and supplier network, which has made the adoption of new software difficult.

Amazon’s Digital Cabin team’s work has been discontinued, and the end of the collaboration allows both companies to focus on their own strategies. However, Stellantis will continue to use AWS cloud services and Alexa voice control.
