I thought I’d set up a thread like this here, as long as things don’t get too serious. So, in this thread, contributors can post what they consider the best and worst of the Finnish investor scene. Whether they are individual tweets, large-scale projects, or personal achievements. I’d also appreciate it if choices were justified, rather than just posting lists without explanations.
My own top list includes at least the following; the list will surely be updated over time:
Rahapodi
- Nordnet’s Rahapodi has certainly served as an inspiration for several thousands of Finns who have started investing and saving thanks to them. A big thank you to Rahapodi.
Mimmit sijoittaa podcast
- For financial equality of opportunity to be realized, the participation of women in the stock market is vital. The Mimmit podcast appeals specifically to those young women who aren’t interested in listening to the “old guard” (setämiehiä).
Seppo Saario
The man. The legend. The dream. Seppo is undeniably Finland’s most important private investor of all time.
Traders club (Nordnet)
- Tuomas and Jukka have produced a new kind of content for investors and traders. I appreciate their work for popular capitalism, even though I don’t trade myself.
Inderes forum
- This forum is a great place where I have personally learned a lot. The community is wonderful and diverse. Go us!
Among the darkest moments, on the other hand, are the following:
Boreo’s attempted robbery
- Boreo’s legal attempted robbery of Sievi Capital was a truly sad and shameful case. The majority owner’s incredible audacity also put analysts in a difficult position. Since the companies are Inderes clients, it isn’t easy to criticize the clients’ poor actions. From my perspective, the analysts and the model portfolio ended up in an understandable but also sad decision when they voted in favor of the proposal.
Martin Paasi and Zombie-Exxon
- This is perhaps the most humorous choice, but it definitely belongs on the list. Because it really is embarrassing to talk out loud for several months or even years about some “Zombie Exxons” when the situation could have been checked with a 5-second Google search.
Jukka Lepikko’s Gameshop tilt
- The much-admired Jukka’s fuse apparently blew completely in January 2021 when the Gameshop case was at its peak. Jukka went so far on Twitter as to ask politicians, the SEC, and the police for help. This would all have been fine, but not when you have a bet on the line yourself and the opposing trader would be losing money.
