What did Metsä Board announce – and why is it important for the investor?
Metsä Board published its updated strategy for the period 2026–2030. The strategy emphasizes:
- improving profitability and cash flow before growth investments
- a focus on higher value-add in consumer packaging (Consumer Packaging)
- reducing the role of market pulp and strengthening cash flow stability
- strict debt discipline (net debt / EBITDA maximum 2.5).
In practice, the strategy period is divided into two phases: first, a cost-saving and earnings improvement program (€200M EBITDA improvement by 2028), followed by growth in brand-driven consumer packaging organically and through potential acquisitions.
