107 people will be cut from Finnish factories, with large differences in the number of people to be cut between factories. Does this also say something about the factory’s competitiveness, or have some factories supposedly left no stone unturned before this moment? Could it be that the factories from which the most cuts are made are the weakest in terms of profitability? These are the kinds of things I was pondering.

107 is about 8% of Com.Pap’s staff in Finland. A pretty high number, considering that restructuring has been going on for 20 years. Perhaps the whole operation is being run in a so-called maintenance mode, and factories are just being driven towards their grave without much further development. However, some factories and machines still have decades of life ahead of them.
