Nokian Tyres makes up a large part of my portfolio, which is (partly) why I’m pondering a few things. Below is some intentional simplification and speculation, lacking any real (quality) content.
I have a question at the end.
Looking at this thread, or checking the news flow for Nokian Tyres here: Nokian Tyres - osake - Inderes, nothing particularly noteworthy has come up. The share price has, however, risen significantly.
The latest news relates to the departure of the North America boss, who was also on the board at one point.
Pölönen’s purchases, made at much lower prices, have been quite a positive thing, although the rest of the management hasn’t really done much, and the largest purchases were made at around ten euros (unless we go back into ancient history). For Pölönen, however, those purchases were pocket change.
Here are the holdings of those receiving commendable salaries; although they haven’t made any acquisitions in a long time, and their holdings relative to their high incomes aren’t very large. For example, Jukka Kasi, who owns a lot, has according to tax records earned over 9 million between 2009–2026, so compared to that, it’s not much, and the same goes for the others.
I’m intentionally oversimplifying management’s acquisitions and holdings to draw a straight line, and these are certainly not such straightforward matters, even if I pondered management’s acquisitions and holdings in a simplified way above. Of course, we generally know the theses and adages + other platitudes related to management holdings, sales, and purchases, etc., so there’s probably nothing more to be gained from those. ![]()
I brought up the company’s share price and valuation more intentionally because, as an owner, I’m wondering why the stock has risen so sharply, so I’m interested in the reasons for that. New products, especially the tire mentioned in the Yle article, might have some effect, as well as those target price hikes. Then, in general, things with the Romanian factory seem to be going strong, and some believe the company’s outlook is stronger than previously thought. Apparently, there is a belief in a clear improvement in margins and growth, that the biggest investments, etc., are starting to be behind them, and there haven’t been any major unpleasant surprises, etc., and the risk scenarios have perhaps moderated.
I’m just wondering, what thoughts do you have regarding the future of the Tyres and the share price? ![]()
Thanks for well-reasoned, slightly more comprehensive answers!
