Nokia as an investment (Part 4)

The contract is good and important, but considering the starting points, did Ericsson once again come out on top? Nokia’s MI still didn’t get a good indication - although Virgin Media is a new element compared to the previous deal.

Now Nokia announced the matter as follows: “The agreement extends Nokia’s position as one of Virgin Media O2’s primary RAN partners

Ericsson, on the other hand, announced: “will become primary.. partner”.

Iain Morris has already drawn his conclusions.

The Swedish company says it has now become the “primary” RAN vendor to VMO2, implying Nokia, the operator’s other supplier, previously served an equal or greater number of sites. Under a new five-year deal worth “several hundred million euros,” Ericsson will “power the majority of Virgin Media O2’s radio network,” the company said in a statement issued this morning. All this would translate into a market share gain for Ericsson and a loss for Nokia.
