I shared my #neuvottelija discussions with the CEOs of LapWall and Norrhydro in both companies’ discussion threads and received positive feedback. I will start dropping episodes here that are not solely stock-specific, but refer to individual stocks, investing, or macroeconomics.
The last two episodes are of this kind, which I don’t bother to drop under, for example, Nokia, Stora Enso, or WithSecure.
WithSecure / F-Secure / Nixu: neuvottelija 138 - Cyberattacks on Companies and States (Mikko Hyppönen) https://youtu.be/Q12y-qmgygc
I interview Mikko Hyppönen about the cybersecurity of companies and states, Elon Musk, cyber warfare, and a bit about the reasons for the WithSecure / F-Secure split, the competitive landscape, and M&A. We recall the greatness of C64 programming, sorry about that!
Nokia / Stora Enso / Telia: neuvottelija 137 - Investor Relations Investor Communications (Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo Ulla Paajanen) https://youtu.be/teA4HvpNj2w
I interview Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo and Ulla Paajanen about the change in investor relations management from Nokia’s peak times to the present. Nokia, Stora Enso, and Telia are mentioned, but mostly in passing. The sparkling intellect of stock analysts is praised😊, while jet fuel and bad airports are frowned upon✈️
Feel free to comment, point out errors/disagreements, and suggest new episodes. I will continue to drop similar general episodes here if and when I mention individual companies or important macro themes. Oh, and feel free to subscribe.
Interview with Jenny Cederqvist, Head of FLIK Helsinki (Inderes), and Juha Koskela, Owner of Suora Broadcast - video streaming in sports, corporate events, and business in general (metaverse etc.). https://youtu.be/-DVkRAN5wIE
This time, my interview guest was Karo Hämäläinen, who, together with Random Walker and Jukka Oksaharju, has written a series of Guru books. Karo’s latest book, “Rikos ja rahastus” (Crime and Money-Making) (WSOY), offers several avenues for our discussion. neuvottelija 161 - Crime and Money-Making (Karo Hämäläinen)

Finland’s State of Decline and End of Money (Tuomas Malinen)
Tuomas Malinen delivers a full broadside on Finland’s state of decline and the end of money. Searching for islands of freedom: examples include Christiania (Copenhagen), Square Mile (London) Weak men & tough times Inflation arrived, what now? Corrupt money. Upcoming book on money Corrupt politics Great Britain almost fell in a monetary policy crisis EU and the Euro Poland missile crisis - Tuomas being targeted as a Putinist Weak government Money, trust, and cryptocurrencies COVID persecutions 2021 and 2022 - where did the talks of restrictions disappear? More targeting Tuomas’s plans
Malinen is clearly in a messianic position in the VKK/Freedom Alliance (Vapaudenliitto) circles. Malinen is the way and the truth, and the sacred words from the Messiah’s mouth should not be questioned. Everyone else is a sheep, but blind fanaticism for Malinen is a fundamental characteristic of an independent thinker.
neuvottelija - the podcast received the right from Spotify to distribute in video format as well. Very few podcasts have been allowed to do this, of course Joe Rogan started it. So if you’re interested in the video, it’s available on Spotify in addition to YouTube from now on:
The next episode will be with Teemu Liila and Kevin van Dessel from Sijoituskästi (Investment Cast) about the upcoming bull market and its trends. They also filmed my interview on negotiation skills, among other things.
Let’s do it this way: you can suggest guests here, I’m getting quite good at attracting guests. I don’t promise anything though, there’s a long queue of guests coming, and only a little time to do these.
The channel’s credibility is severely undermined by the fact that Tuomas Malinen and Esko Aho have been given the most airtime. I’m very surprised by this, as the former is almost a persona non grata in so-called industry circles, and the latter is in a nearly similar position among the general public. I can’t think of any other explanation for why these two gentlemen get to speak year after year, other than that the viewership numbers are good. Not that I mind, I too listen with interest as Aho whitewashes his own actions and Malinen explains how Orban’s economic policy is divinely good.
P.S. I bet that @Freddie might like my Li Andersson’s economic policy advisor #MMT episode more than the Juhana Vartiainen episode Also, do you think I’m simultaneously propagating all of these, or that my guests represent themselves as adults?
Uh, a rather confusingly inappropriate response, even though I used somewhat provocative language. I suppose one is allowed to give feedback on guests and their quality, even if they are your friends or presidential favorites? Unfortunately, I must state that I have indeed watched almost all the episodes, and my comment was based on that. Juhana Vartiainen’s episode is indeed one of the best; I would gladly see him as a guest multiple times instead of the gentlemen mentioned in the aforementioned message.
Thanks for watching. I misinterpreted your message as a generic “don’t interview my least favorite people” anonymous troll comment. My sincere apologies.
Of course, criticism is welcome! I’m here under my own name for that very reason. My point is probably that I am not my guest, and my guests are adults who are responsible for their own statements. In Finland, the so-called Overton window, or the range of generally accepted opinions that can be voiced, is very narrow, and that’s a shame. Dissenting voices are not tolerated, even if they could alert us to future problems.
In my opinion, the channel’s strength lies in having experts from various institutions and companies discussing fairly specific topics. For example, the CEOs of Lamor or Norrhydro speaking during their IPOs. Next to that, it seems quite absurd if certain parties get to push their own agenda at regular intervals. Of course, I understand that viewership and listenership numbers are interesting, but perhaps I personally think that you can’t have everything.
I don’t fully buy into the Overton window anymore these days. Thanks to YouTube, it has widened, with good examples being Puopolo’s channels, where you yourself are often a guest. In Esko Aho’s case, it might indeed be true that he can’t get his voice heard these days even in the so-called more traditional media, even though he is a former prime minister.
Regarding Malinen, criticism is particularly warranted on an investment forum. Over the past few years, there has been one absolutely fantastic buying opportunity in the market (the COVID dip), and now perhaps in the autumn, we have also been in fairly good buying opportunities – time will tell how it plays out. Advising to hoard cash under the mattress as an investment tip does not look very good in these situations.
Regarding Malinen, criticism is particularly warranted on an investment forum.
True. I didn’t share that problematic episode here myself; I could have easily shared only the episodes related to stocks, but I didn’t get to choose. Of course, Malinen has been one of the few who were right about over 10% inflation. Very, very few anticipated that, myself included, so he’s not just a doomsayer. The holy combination of digital central bank money, totalitarianism, and censorship is now being witnessed in China – it’s not good for the economy, so we don’t want it here in Western democracies. Who would talk about that other than a somewhat marginal figure?
In my opinion, people shouldn’t wonder about others’ choices; just set up your own channel under your own name, and the world will improve. It’s not that difficult; I can give tips, which include inviting some guest who irritates the masses to your channel.
Malinen seems to be canceling himself, leaving even Europe. In the USA, he would probably find an extreme niche where he could fit in. He probably wants to understand Russia’s reasons for invading Ukraine, claiming this has been removed from the Western narrative. Things are rarely either/or. Thus, there is some wisdom in Malinen’s statements, but only some. It’s good to at least try to understand even such extreme thinking. This certainly breaks the “right” and “good” consensus that is needed to hold society together and move towards a common goal, even if it sometimes turns out to be wrong in retrospect (cf. the COVID mask study; “they are not beneficial, they can even be harmful” and later this was overturned as nonsense). Following the interview is a good test of how one tolerates the persecution anxiety that arises within oneself.

165 - AI Analyzes the Negotiation! (Jussi Niemelä Mikko Järvinen)
Meluton Oy CEO Jussi Niemelä and Mikko Järvinen from True North Search discuss biometric negotiation analysis, which was used when, among other things, Sami trained members of True North Search in business acquisitions. During the process, Jussi researched about 300 companies, entering into acquisition negotiations with four of them. Ultimately, the consortium of Jussi and True North Search completed the acquisition of a family business. Mikko describes the process as an angel investors’ private equity model. In the negotiation simulation shown in the episode, Sami acted as a tough business seller and Jussi as a constructive representative of the buyer group. The negotiation was filmed, and AI classified the negotiators’ emotional states from sources such as their eyes. Negotiation technology is in an acceleration phase, and #neuvottelija will return to the topic, for example, through legal tech. 00:00-00:55 Biometric negotiation demo, summary of the True North Search ETA model 00:56-40:43 Jussi Niemelä, Mikko Järvinen, and Sami Miettinen discuss biometric negotiation and the angel investors’ private equity model
I have criticized the bloated and taxpayer-funded YLE on the Viikon viisasteluklubi (Weekly Wisecracking Club), but it’s always a pleasure to visit YLE’s Pörssipäivä (Stock Market Day) as a guest of Mikko Jylhä, here with Danske’s Chief Economist Pasi Kuoppamäki!
