Guaranteed Pörssipäivä quality once again. I was a bit surprised when, about 45 minutes in, you discussed the labor shortage and didn’t mention Ukrainian refugees as a potential partial solution. The profiles of many who have arrived could fit well into the care sector specifically. Furthermore, a large portion of them are children and young people who are currently in language immersion.
In my opinion, the scenarios
The war is prolonged
Making many areas habitable again will take time
Many will want to stay regardless
are quite likely.
I also believe it is easier for Ukrainians to integrate into European society than for many coming from different kinds of cultures. Then again, education makes everything easier.

Kiitos! You’re right, but I’m a bit wary of viewing Ukrainians in terms of their economic utility; hopefully, they’ll be able to rebuild their country in 2023. Of course, if they don’t, they are very welcome in Finland.

Lasse Corin, Chief Economist at Aktia, discusses the Finland vs. Sweden situation with Sami, where Swedes are approximately $200,000 wealthier per adult according to Credit Suisse data. According to Lasse’s analysis, the Swedes’ substantial pension savings account for up to $100,000 of that difference, but we are still poorer. Surprisingly, 20 years ago during Nokia’s heyday, we were even ahead, so the trend is concerning. It’s definitely a good idea. And why not a thorough deep dive into the birth of Proprius and its future asset management philosophy. Although I’m happy to listen to Viitikko and Heikkilä, it would be interesting to hear from one or more of the three (to me) lesser-known members of the quintet.
I don’t think this Neuvottelija episode, which is the best one from a stock picker’s perspective, has been shared in this thread at all:
This Neuvottelija episode, arguably the best from a stock picker’s perspective, hasn’t probably been promoted in this thread at all:
Yeah, I chatted with Pavel last week; that super-premium growth etc. segment was certainly turbulent in 2022, but 2023 is performing differently again.
Even if Mika Heikkilä were interviewed on the subject of “semi-skimmed or skimmed milk in coffee?”, I would listen intently.
Proprius Partners seems like a very interesting newcomer, not only because they have notable names on the team, but also because the company’s investment philosophy is something I’d love to hear more about.
It occurred to me that @Arimatti_Alhanko and Jens would be an interesting duo for an interview, even just as private individuals! Of course, Coeus could be touched upon at the same time
Was there a bit of Turhapuro or Nasse-setä (Uncle Nasse) as an artistic nuance here?
Skrolli magazine readers or writers might include some people quite deeply well-versed in AI, but I don’t know how eager they are to be interviewed or where to reach them. I cancelled my subscription a few years ago, so I haven’t really stayed in the loop.
I don’t really know anyone who could discuss the topic in layman’s terms and pick out the most significant things from the midst of all the noise. Skrolli has some Discord things at least, but maybe it’s worth checking Inderes’s GPT forum first?
This would be an interesting and very timely topic.
It would be good if the interviewee has practical hands-on experience in coding AI, but can also examine the matter at a conceptual and business level. Like Mobileye’s CEO, AI Prof. Amnon Shashua
They can definitely be found in Finnish AI companies. Guys operating only at a high level provide sharp comments that contain factual errors.
I once watched Neuvottelija’s “Self-driving cars and Unikie (Unikie CTO Erkka Niemi)”. I got the feeling that Erkka operates more at a conceptual level. A great company in itself, and I have briefly worked with them at some point.
Futucast had a segment on ChatGPT ft. Jyri Engeström. In that, a business guy talked about AI and it probably sounded great, but in my opinion, it contained factual errors.
The philosophizing of an academic guy about how Artificial General Intelligence is coming, without understanding at what level current technology supports it, ages quickly.
Hopefully a good person is found. On paper, Silo.ai has some heavy hitters, but I don’t know them personally.
