Musti and ICA initiate discussions on a long-term partnership, and ICA transfers Gaston stores to Musti Group
Following a strategic review, ICA will transfer three Gaston stores in Uppsala, Västerås, and Norrköping to Arken Zoo, the largest pet supply chain in Sweden and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Musti Group. At the same time, the parties are initiating discussions regarding ongoing cooperation.
Gaston was launched in October 2024 as a pilot project aimed at testing a specialized store concept and increasing understanding of how ICA can best meet the needs of pet owners. After an evaluation, ICA has decided not to continue operating the concept itself and will instead transfer the stores to Arken Zoo, an established player with extensive experience in the pet market.
Arken Zoo will take over the Gaston stores in Uppsala, Västerås, and Norrköping. Simultaneously, discussions will begin on a long-term partnership between ICA and Arken Zoo, under which the companies can jointly develop their offerings and explore new locations for complementary pet stores in the vicinity of ICA stores to create even more attractive commercial hubs.
With this arrangement, ICA concludes the Gaston pilot project. The Gaston stores and their online shop will continue to operate during a transition period. ICA and Arken Zoo will work together to ensure a smooth transition for both customers and employees.
