Modulight Corporation has received an order valued at USD 1.1 million from a US-based quantum computing company, which is a new customer for Modulight.
The order covers a few qualification units intended for the customer’s quantum computing systems. The customer aims to place follow-up orders as early as before the summer of 2027, provided that the qualification is successful and the project progresses. Modulight will inform the market separately should such orders materialize.
“We are very pleased to see our collaboration progressing towards production. Quantum computing is an excellent example of an application where Modulight’s ability to combine optics, laser technology, electronics, software, and scalable manufacturing into comprehensive laser solutions delivers significant added value to the customer. It is important to note that quantum computing companies, like our customers in other high value-add applications, benefit not only from the technical advantages of vertical integration but also from the long-term supply chain security provided by Modulight’s unique manufacturing capabilities,” says Seppo Orsila, founder and CEO of Modulight.
Modulight has been developing laser technology and complete laser systems for demanding applications for over two decades. The company’s vertically integrated manufacturing in Tampere enables the development and production of laser chips, optical assemblies, electronics, software, and complete laser systems all within the same organization.
The collaboration is part of Modulight’s growing operations in quantum technologies. Modulight sees significant long-term potential in the field as quantum computing systems transition from the research and development phase toward increasingly large-scale deployment.
