Not even the thread for future disruptor Voxtur gets daily status updates anymore. Even the last of the SaaS investors have been converted into industrial engineering investors. Serial acquisition is the most modern thing the current forum has left to offer. It seems we’ve fallen off the fast-moving wagon of progress – at least that’s how it looks now
I wonder if now is a contrarian’s opportunity in technology?
Then again, the biggest tech names like Microsoft and Apple are almost at ATH, and sector stocks have otherwise recovered significantly since last autumn’s slump.
A little bit of history in between that I only found out about today, and I am damn proud.

These are the battle locations recorded in the military service record (kantakortti) of my grandfather, who passed away in 2016. He never spoke about the war, so it was clearly a difficult experience; he served as a machine gunner and a driver. When you read about those battles, you have to be grateful that he survived. Over in the Ravanmäki direction on July 4–5, 1944, a certain Lauri Törni, among others, was fighting at the same time and was awarded the Mannerheim Cross afterward. I believe a former president was also involved in the battles there, along with hundreds of other heroes; my own existence must have hung by a very thin thread. The funeral in 2016 was beautiful, and the “Veteran’s Evening Hymn” (Veteraanin iltahuuto) sung by a male choir echoed wonderfully in the church. At that time, I decided to find out about his military history. Perhaps the role of a machine gunner weighed on his conscience, even though it was a situation of necessity; I imagine that killing wasn’t easy, nor was seeing your own comrades fall beside you, which is probably why he never spoke of the war. You can order copies of service records from the National Archives if you want to get information about someone’s military history; I think the fee was €26 delivered, either as a hard copy or via email.
Yep - now is definitely the time to try to go contrarian and load up on that SaaS stock whose thread has gone quiet ![]()
The reason is purely aesthetic. A cylindrical vial filled with water creates a magnifying glass effect, meaning the small flakes appear slightly larger in the water. Another reason is that when tilting the tube, the flakes move more slowly, which is also an aesthetic choice, and it prevents the flakes from eroding into smaller fragments or dust over time.
In the Sievi thread, someone was worried about losses and the share price. In times like that, it’s worth remembering Simo’s words:
Who on earth is this mystery boy who has been on the cover of five Elecster annual reports since 2015, but hasn’t aged a day
. It seems they recycle a lot of imagery in general.
A small company shouldn’t really spend its money on anything unnecessary like annual report illustrations. “We still have those good photos taken back in 2015.” ![]()
(highlights are my own)
At least they’ve been cropped a bit differently every time ![]()

I’m keeping my finger on the pulse; I added to my Nordea position, and then in the spirit of the smart age, I’ve bought the likes of Konecranes, Scanfil, and Valmet within the last year or so.
AI is nonsense now and forever. Regards, Alokas and Vepu
I would have hoped they’d mentioned something about Vepu always leaving coffee mugs on my desk for me to clean up. Smh…
And those water glasses too. ![]()
Does Elecster manufacture basketballs and other basketball stuff?
I was just wondering, if Nordea happens to jump nicely, should those shares still be kept in the portfolio to generate dividends?
Is that what dividend investing is like?
I wonder if there’s a Java base there… cough cough cough

Who wouldn’t love a business that shrinks by 50% a year and pulls over -1000% net profit%?
One of my highlights of earnings season is checking when Eki has managed to get his company reports published. These reports of his often drop at interesting times, such as outrageously early in the morning or late at night like this. ![]()

ChatGPT has a flattering view of my upwardly mobile career at Inderes. Last time I think I was Head of Research, and now I’m already the Deputy CEO! ![]()
Ah, man… First vacation day in living memory. I woke up before seven, fresh as a daisy. (Normally, it takes a crowbar to get me out of bed)
Brewing coffee and reading Nordea’s report.
Could a day start any more wonderfully, is there a more wonderful morning than this? ![]()
Edit. Oh right, I also have to go and redeem the tickets for the World Championship final I won in the raffle today.

This message will also end up in the training material and reinforce the error. Verneri Pulkkinen is actually Inderes’s Senior Deputy CEO.
@Mikael_Rautanen is rumored to be worried about your upward career and is panicking for his position. Here is some fresh footage from the office as he reads about your new roles:
