Same here. When looking at green indexes, my fingers start itching, but now that lost self-control is required. I don’t believe the saga is over yet.
I myself would hope for a sequel to The Big Short, called The Big Short Squeeze.
The S/P500 has been making bounces every 5-15 trading days for the past 2 months. If the same pattern continues, the next proper down days will be next week at the latest.
Now that a lot of new usernames have joined the forum, and some of them don’t seem to want to/know how to respect the forum, I sincerely hope that the so-called old timers (a term used with all love, you know who I’m talking about) continue their active discussion and sharing of information. Please don’t get frustrated!
My own investing has experienced a completely new spring thanks to you, and I have learned an incredible amount. This learning is concretely visible in increased returns, so I am deeply grateful to you! Keep up the excellent work!
And so that the new usernames don’t get offended (I’m quite new myself), most of them surely know how to respect the forum, and it’s good to get new blood and perspectives involved, welcome!
You got it. Last week it felt like the end of the world, with the Helsinki stock exchange swinging wildly, boosted by Nokia, and the whole week just felt strange. On the other hand, this week will definitely be very interesting for results, and I’m eagerly looking forward to the end of the week. I believe some kind of correction might happen in the coming weeks to scare WSB investors out of the market. Patience is required, especially when sitting on a rather large cash pile.. ![]()
A new user who starts spamming random threads with “Buy low-volume stock X” messages run through a translation machine is clearly a pump bot, and it won’t turn into a human in two weeks.
I understood the message as the user “predicting” that Qt would buy Valoe, but it’s still meaningless.
Changing the subject, Nokia seems to be up +7% in pre-market, will the rally continue this week? Will the hype die down on Thursday at the latest, when the results come in? Well, on the other hand, I’m sure WSB hunters will find new targets if Nokia starts to get boring.
How are US stock exchanges open in forex and commodities (i.e. oil/gold/silver/copper etc.) (ETP?) markets? I’m at work sitting on the minister’s chair in the men’s room and couldn’t quickly find it ![]()
WSB doesn’t really have much to say about NOKIA anymore. Current discussions are roughly 70% GME, 10% AMC, 20% “don’t believe SLV pump-and-dumps, fake news.”
But of course, there might be a lot of latecomers who read the news belatedly, and on the other hand, the earnings report is approaching, and target prices were also raised by the Swedes…
Note that in the US, Nokia closed significantly lower than in Helsinki on Friday, which may be due to this.
I really can’t bring myself to post this in the leverage, trading, or buy/sell threads.. Trading À la 2021-hype-wsb-corona-season:
- Drive to your favorite restaurant at lunchtime
- Open the WSB thread on Inderes
- Register what’s being talked about (oh, so it’s silver now)
- Open the Nordnet app
- Find the Silver Bull with the highest possible leverage
- Buy some bull with a couple of hundred euros
- Wait a few minutes, browsing Inderes
- Sell the bull with a 15 euro profit
- Put your phone in your pocket
- Walk in to eat a free lunch
It’s not about the big risks, but the small joys ![]()
I’m convinced by this ingenious trading strategy. I’ll keep it in mind… ![]()
If only one could get a stop loss, that would be free money ![]()
Mikael’s Nokia interview is already out… hopefully, we’ll get a Qt interview at the same time. Right after the fresh company update..?
Ugh, didn’t happen :S I thought it would be with the results. That’s when Varelius’s interview comes out too. ![]()
Ok. It’s worth waiting for prime! ![]()
Doesn’t that look more like the market is predicting more efficiently than analysts? Reactions are close to zero, whether expectations were exceeded or fallen short of.
But isn’t this chart, at best, really just directional: It doesn’t take a stance on how much expectations were exceeded, or for what reasons, or what the general direction of the indices was on that particular day.
P.S. depending, of course, on whose forecasts were exceeded.
Yes, it’s pretty indicative and there can be many interpretations. Indeed, the analysts’ consensus is just the average of their forecasts: investors still have their own expectations, for which there’s no database, and one can only guess from stock price reactions. Now it seems the results weren’t enough to meet investors’ expectations, but could it also be about, for example, the outlook? Secondly, only 1/3 of the earnings reports have been released, and those were at a time when the stock market was declining anyway. Let’s see what it looks like towards the end of the earnings season.
Perhaps it also weighs on the cup that there are a huge number of investors who have been rallying with the stock in the 2020 corona rally for months, accumulating significant returns, and now they are looking for a suitable point to exit as the rally starts to fade. So, they wait for the next earnings report and hope for a huge boom to get a little extra. Or they sell just before the earnings report. After the earnings report, there’s a shortage of buyers because the fundamentals say that everything and a little more has been priced in…
Having followed the sluggish performance of my portfolio’s two big “tech giants” (AMD and NVIDIA) for the last 3 months, in hindsight, one could say that even though the companies are strong, producing good results, and are worth their valuation multiples, the drivers for a significant stock rally are missing. It’s “too sour” no matter how strong the momentum, and capital is escaping to find better-yielding targets. I’ve had to significantly lower my refueling alerts in TradingView for these as well, because otherwise, there’s not much hope for returns… I’m still holding both because I still see potential within a 1-2 year timeframe, but I admit I’ve considered cutting NVIDIA a couple of times already. However, it hasn’t left yet - mainly because the recent heated crypto situation could bring surprises to the GPU market.
