Good luck to Verneri in your new challenges, and a big thank you for the content and insights you’ve produced!
A very big thank you for all the content you’ve produced, which I’ve spent countless hours enjoying
Also, an admirable decision to boldly follow your passion into your next role, good luck and success! I’m already looking forward to portfolio manager Verner’s first investor letter, or will it also come in video format
Hopefully, through these and the forum, we’ll still get to read your thoughts on companies and investing in the future as well ![]()
Well, what a bombshell dropped. Thank you @Verneri_Pulkkinen and best of luck in the future. I’ll also let my wife know so she doesn’t have to listen to “that guy every morning” anymore, to quote her words.
Hopefully, you will be the exception that proves the rule that legendary figures transition into portfolio management, which is followed by at least a deep recession for it.
Ps. Did you factor into your preliminary strategy discussions how the liquidity of the target companies will suffice once you’ll soon be managing a 50-billion fund?
Let’s hope @Sijoittaja-alokas doesn’t get any ideas regarding Verneri’s new fund. Nice fund you got in there… ![]()
Thanks for the idea! ![]()
Maybe this is how we’ll get Verneri to come back. ![]()
I already checked if a link to their new forum had appeared in the top bar of Aristoi’s website, but at least there wasn’t one yet. Such a thing definitely needs to be launched when they are aiming to become the industry leader anyway, judging by the recruitment at least.
It’s wonderful and bittersweet to hear at the same time. You’ve easily been among the elite of the Finnish scene when it comes to relaxed public speaking, philosophical pondering, and combining humor with it all—without ever feeling like any single element was overdone.
Kudos for everything so far, and I assume you won’t be disappearing completely behind books and charts in the dark going forward either, so let’s look forward to what’s next. Good luck and success!

Thank you for your significant contribution to the Finnish investment culture and good luck in your new challenges!
You certainly have excellent prerequisites to succeed as a portfolio manager! Independent thinkers are needed especially in that world of empty suits, where there is a strong tendency to go with the crowd.
Verneri’s quarter has been a cornerstone of my own and my “short” investment hobby, as I’ve tried to grasp where the market currently stands. There is no replacement. A truly regrettable surprise for myself, but surely a fantastic opportunity for Verneri. Best of luck to him in the future!
Huge thanks to @Verneri_Pulkkinen for everything and the absolute best of luck with the new gig!
I hereby grant you the OG title – meaning industry pioneer, original gangster, good old Verkku.
It’s possible that the new fund is in good hands.
“Werneri Pulkkinen discussed his investment hobby and mentioned that his portfolio has returned an average of about 20% annually, but admitted that some of his success might be due to luck.”

ps. Will the fund include a lot of attractively valued First North companies?
And most importantly - will there be a weekly Verneri’s article in the future? ![]()
I thought some things would last forever. Among these are the British soap opera Emmerdale and its American counterpart, The Bold and the Beautiful. The cast members in these shows have changed many times, and one might even ask if either show is still what it used to be, or if it’s the soap opera of Theseus.
However, there was one show where I hoped the cast would never change: Verneri’s Vartti (Quarter-Hour)
Back when I was starting out in investing, I went to visit an advisor at a major Finnish bank. After a brief conversation, I told the hair-gel guy that I wouldn’t necessarily want to give my money to an expensive actively managed fund, but rather learn the basics of investing myself and then make decisions on direct allocations. For this learning process, however, I asked the hair-gel guy if he could recommend any Finnish video content on the subject.
“A certain Finnish analysis house has started regular macro videos. The videos are high quality, even if the creator is a bit of a joker. You should check it out!”
Thus began my own journey.
In my opinion, the strength of the Varttis / Minuutit (Minutes) has always been their consistent quality, political neutrality, and their somewhat “dry nature.” After all, the Varttis are PowerPoint slide presentations! For a long time, I’ve mentally compared the Varttis to junior high school math classes: there are no shortcuts to complex matters; instead, they have to be internalized through dry learning. However, a good teacher can make even a dry subject sound interesting!
Whereas modern social media algorithms favor bashing others, reading and sharing AI summaries, or destroying the viewer’s attention span with read-aloud texts and clickbait titles, Verneri has long sailed on his own river. Amidst the talking heads and know-it-alls on Twitter, there has been one voice whose quality you could trust.
I am not so much afraid of the Inderes platform without the Varttis, but the Forum without Vepu
There is an awkward history of top analysts who, upon leaving Inderes, promise to remain active participants on the Forum. Yet, they have all drifted into the silent river of Hades, from whence they just stalk the discussions from the sidelines. I wonder if the same fate awaits Vepu.
Crying over spilt milk won’t help. Thank you @Verneri_Pulkkinen for all the lessons. Fair winds in your new challenges – hopefully they keep you on the path of lifelong learning ![]()

I happened to wonder out loud some time ago where to find that young and potential star who will blossom into the next legendary Finnish asset manager. And today @Verneri_Pulkkinen throws their hat in the ring for the job! Awesome news and best of luck in the future. It surely wasn’t an easy decision
Wishing Verner a great future as a fund manager! I’ll definitely need to look into the fund properly when the time comes. Putting in 10k would be quite hefty, but I’m seriously considering it. Let’s get a thread going on the forum once more information about the fund comes out!
Vernerin Vartit was undeniably top 3 content in the Finnish investment scene, so they might be missed a little. Maybe someone else will fill that vacuum, since supply and demand, etc.
Some (me) have been hanging on to Glaston for 10 years while others have been hanging on to AMD for 10 years. Some people just know how to choose their cards right, I don’t. Congratulations to those who managed to hop on board this current whatever-it-is AI/chip rally ![]()
I’m just looking at the rowan berries longingly and concluding they are sour.

Thank you Verneri for the high-quality content, and above all, thank you for being a friend to all forum members!
It goes without saying that your departure will leave a huge void on the forum. At the same time, it is easy to say that it’s also great to see you following your own dreams!
Let’s also hope that someone like you is found to fill that void, someone who will continue from where you left off, so that later on people won’t have to lament with the phrase o tempora, o mores.
To quote Bull Mentula: “There’s nothing else to say, I tip my hat.”
Hmm, Warren Buffett. Werneri Bulkkinen ![]()
There it was right in front of our eyes the whole time. Special thanks to Verneri for “Varat” (Assets) and the discussion on the Direction of the Economy + historical perspective. All the best!
Teaching also teaches the teacher. That is something I have experienced and lived through in my own career. When you explain things in the simplest possible terms, you truly have to be able to identify and understand the core of the matter so that you can shape it into a form that others can understand. In my opinion, you cannot make a genuinely difficult subject easy, but you can make it so interesting that it genuinely entices people to explore and learn. That is precisely what you have done. And that is why I tip my hat to you in respect. A person who makes others’ learning journey a little lighter is a good person. Thank you for these educational years and wishing you great success in the future!
