There have been all sorts of subsidiaries and associated companies. My attention was drawn, among other things, to AB Svenska Ostasiatiska Kompaniet (The Swedish East Asia Company).
However, in this case, it wasn’t about ruthless colonial exploitation, unlike in the cases of the Dutch East India Company (Dutch East India Company - Wikipedia ) or the British East India Company (East India Company - Wikipedia ), which inspired the company’s name.
Svenska was an innocent cargo shipping company operating between Sweden and East Asia.
