I see the greatest benefit of Röko and other similar companies in the sector for tired stock pickers who no longer have the energy to spend hours browsing stocks and making difficult choices, and therefore want to outsource that company digging to someone else and become passive, enjoying the appreciation of a long-term thoughtful owner with a well-diversified portfolio. In their own mind, they can then convince themselves that the ‘stock picker’ is staring back at them from the mirror in the morning, not a ‘fund investor’.

Very good point. This is exactly where serial consolidators and investment companies are a good alternative. If researching and picking stocks has started to bore you, losses are frustrating, or you want to diversify. And does it even negatively affect the investor’s self-image if they invest through the same company as the Wallenbergs, the Agnelli family, or even Prem Watza? In that case, you feel like you’re in esteemed company.
