Inderes.fi content development ideas

Yeah, it’s not an impossible task, I’ll definitely try out an alternative Inderes voice as early as this week. :+1:

Is it okay to give feedback regarding the Inderes app here as well?

For yours truly, at least, the queue view is hidden in a place that is way too difficult to find. You can certainly push items into the queue via the three dots using “Add to queue” or similar, which is useful when heading out for a run, for example, but I couldn’t find a view anywhere to see what has been added to the queue (so I could check if the added amount is enough for the duration of the planned run  ).

Am I already at the age where I don’t know how to use these youth apps anymore, or has that queue function been left somehow unfinished?

And here we go again. Today, by popular demand, the reader is AI-@Juha_Kinnunen (cloned via ElevenLabs). Today, I also tried to automatically generate a short summary of the entire morning review.

This was surprisingly good, by the way! It’s nice to hear such a concise summary of companies you don’t follow more closely, so you can hear if there’s any major news that might pique your interest to research further. Keep this going! :+1: :+1:

This worked much better for me than, for example, Brian. Thanks :folded_hands:. I don’t know how much work it would take to develop this further so that each analyst’s voice would be used for the companies they follow, or the macro comment would be in Marianne’s voice? In any case, Juha’s voice suited this well :+1:

This works really well! Juha’s soothing voice always feels good in the earbuds  The pronunciation also sounds better than in the previous ones. Agreed, that morning review in almost a minute is a very good concept for busy mornings :+1:

I think this audio format is great, and even at this stage, I’d like to suggest that, for example, the “morning review in almost a minute” or even all these audio clips could be made available on Spotify, similar to the FT News Briefing. Perhaps the comments could be provided as a single audio file—it’s not practical for anyone to have, for example, 15 separate audio clips to listen to on any given morning. AI can likely generate timestamps for the comments easily if someone specifically wants to listen to a comment about a certain company. Personally, however, I think the point of the morning review is to follow (at least at a headline level) almost all the companies on the Helsinki Stock Exchange. So, I personally support having one audio file on Spotify every morning containing all the Morning Review (Aamukatsaus) comments. Great concept!

Thank you for the feedback!

PS. Just a quick update: the voice generation for the Morning Review is slightly delayed. Today we planned to try another Inderes voice, but it’s proving quite difficult to produce long-form audio content without AI hallucinations while still capturing the speaker’s unique style, so that the speech isn’t just a monotonous drone. If it doesn’t work out within the next couple of hours, I’ll use a pre-made voice instead, and we might return to this specific Inderes voice later.

Today, only a summary was released, read by AI-@Verneri_Pulkkinen. There are some oddities in this one as well, but it will have to do for today. I learned many practical lessons along the way about training and the behavior of such a model; apparently, the training data I fed into the model was too varied. Or perhaps Vepu is the kind of speaker that you just can’t copy with AI that easily..

@Yu_Gong

Could we get a bit more margin between the last thread in the list and the “113 unread” text? I keep making accidental taps constantly when I try to press that “X unread” part.

Markus has really hijacked this thread for audio experiments, so sorry a few messages have gone unnoticed.

Yeah, glad you mentioned it @Pohjolan_Eka! Our forum host’s background work has caused some disruptions, so we’re investigating it with them to minimize similar errors in the future.

I completely agree with you @Vara-Paavi! We have a major overhaul of the company page starting this autumn (better navigability, clearer key information, foundation for future sections, etc.), and we intend to collect feedback here on the forum regarding that. So we are aiming to react to the feedback

Today we’re using a standard voice, Matilda from ElevenLabs as the reader. Thanks for the comments and discussion so far! :+1: Keep telling us what you think, how you use or would use it, and what should be changed.

Here are also some broader greetings from our team  This week, a couple of developers returned from vacation and a new team member also started, so we’re getting back up to speed with almost the full team!

:sunny: What we’ve released during the summer

  • Improved login flow for new users - making it easier to both subscribe to the newsletter and follow companies.
  • Steps towards shutting down the old site - this is one of our main drivers at the moment. We’re adding missing background functionalities (e.g., role management, press release identification, and model portfolio events) so we can get rid of the old site and focus solely on the new platform. Unfortunately, these aren’t visible to users as direct benefits, but as technical debt decreases, we’ll be able to develop new features faster
  • UI improvements & bug fixes - e.g., the Screener should work now (thanks @Vanerihands for the feedback) and broken CSS styles on mobile have finally been fixed.

:sun_behind_large_cloud: Currently in the works

  • Continuing the shutdown of the old site - aiming to get the biggest loose ends tied up this autumn.
  • Improved stock market page - Work already began in the summer to ensure the page has all the essential features, including a renewed chart, clearer structure, news feed, etc.
  • Smaller user requests - e.g., requested adjusted figures (P/E, EV/EBIT) for stock comparison and a filter for the analysis page (thanks for the request @Savon_Ruhtinas).

:fallen_leaf: In the works over the coming months

  • Updated market page
  • Development of the redesigned company page has started
  • Other user requests

Thanks to everyone for the requests and ideas, keep them coming freely and without hesitation

Today we’re testing a slightly different backend setup, and this time it’s a 50% cheaper and significantly faster model from ElevenLabs. At least initially, I haven’t noticed much of a difference compared to previous experiments. Today’s voice is Sarah from the ElevenLabs voice library.

It’s a bit of a shame that in a thread where you can post every 30 minutes, you can’t edit your previous post? Wouldn’t it be much more efficient than having to write a new post in the same thread?

Great! Could you also add the Q4 forecast to that, so we can get the consensus estimates for the full year?

Thanks Mikael for the shout-out! I’ll provide a concise answer in this thread; mods can move these messages to development ideas if they’d like

Hmm yeah, that’s a good point! Currently, it actually shows H1 and H2 figures, but the headings are incorrect (the H1 result is reported at Q2, etc.). I’ve inquired with Pinpoint about whether business reviews (Q1, Q3) could also be added, which would make forecasting more meaningful. This issue only pertains to smaller companies, as larger ones usually have all quarters available.

Good question! We had a forecasting competition for Kamux over the summer, and the plan was to hold something similar during the Q3 earnings season :medal_sports:
