Analyst Change

I am announcing this separately here so you don’t wonder why the analyst has changed for the companies I follow. I have resigned from Inderes Oy, and my last official workday is next Wednesday. I am moving to work in a completely different industry due to a generational change in a family company. It was not my original intention to leave Inderes. The opportunity came to me quite unexpectedly, and things progressed quickly. In that sense, it’s a shame to leave, as Inderes has such good momentum, and we’ve had such a long journey together with an amazing, close-knit team. I have been with Inderes since its founding in 2009, and back then, I wouldn’t have dared to dream how far we’ve come today. I will remain a shareholder in Inderes and will provide help and support to ensure the analyst transition is as smooth as possible and that Inderes’ service does not suffer for you, the service users. My companies have now been transferred to the following analysts:

Aktia: Matias Arola and Sauli Vilén

Citycon: Petri Gostowski and Antti Viljakainen

Fondia: Juha Kinnunen

Consti: Olli Koponen

Martela: Joonas Korkiakoski

IH, Ovaro, and Cibus: Matias Arola

Thank you to all community members and readers! Over the past 10 years, the quality of discussion within the investor community has significantly improved, and especially over the last year, there has been really good commentary and constructive challenging here on the Forum. Keep up the good work! I will remain on this forum and will occasionally write about topics that interest me.

Wishing you all the best,

Jesse Kinnunen

Lots of happenings from Inderes as well. I would continue my participation in Fondia too.

My investing career is still very short, and the only stocks I’ve bought out during it have been Technopolis and Hoivatilat. Thanks for the really good, thorough breakdowns of these cases that made me invest in them!

Good luck and success in your new ventures, Jesse. You’ve probably been the analyst I’ve challenged the most on this forum regarding real estate companies. I’ve liked how you’ve brought new factual information to the discussions.

Dear investor community,

After much deliberation, I have decided to move on from Inderes to a new project where I can realize a long-held career dream. I have received excellent training and experience at Inderes in equity analysis and identifying good investment opportunities. This, in part, provided a springboard for this new position, as it specifically relates to stock picking and portfolio management. I am grateful to my colleagues who initially brought me into the Inderes team and as a shareholder in this company. Over the years, I have gained valuable insights from them and from colleagues who joined later. We must not forget our active Inderes community, which insatiably shares information, challenges each other, and makes investment targets more transparent for everyone. This is what good investment discussion and a valuable investment community are all about. Thank you all!

I have been doing analysis at Inderes for 10.5 years. That’s a long time. My analysis history includes great successes that we have enjoyed together, but also failures from which we have learned to become better investors. We have had a great run as a company and a community so far, and we have achieved something unique in Finland. When I started at Inderes, we had a small office hotel room in Lauttasaari with bean bags, foosball, and a few young enthusiasts eager about equity analysis. We have grown through hard work into Finland’s largest and, in recent years, most awarded analysis team. With the Flik acquisition, we have grown into an organization of nearly 100 people, listed on First North, and in my opinion, this company has never been in such a strong condition as it is now, and standing on so many pillars as it does now. I can confidently move on to new, inspiring challenges and hopefully also to a new, long career in the wealth management business.

We have agreed that I will assist the analysis team in transferring the companies I follow and my accumulated know-how to my colleagues to ensure the handover is as smooth as possible. So I am not leaving in a hurry; we will do this in a controlled and calm manner. However, by January 31, 2022, at the latest, I will hang up my gloves at the Ruoholahti analysis factory. For many companies, the transition is natural, as we have been conducting analysis with two analysts for a long time. For some companies, the final decisions have yet to be made, but we will inform you about them later. I do not doubt for a moment that we will find new, hungry individuals to take care of the companies I am leaving behind. We have already planned new responsible analysts for the following companies:

I will continue to read Inderes reports and watch videos even after this. I will also be present at various investment-related events, on the Inderes Forum, and on Twitter, so we will surely meet virtually or live in the future.

I wish all community members happiness and success in life, work, and investments. Let us continue together to foster quality investment discussion and build a good investment community.

Sincerely,
Petri Kajaani

One would think that Petri, as an experienced Harvia analyst, would know not to release these stock exchange announcements on a Friday, as it ruins the whole weekend.
It’s a shame that we won’t get a new “hat live” with Harvia, but hopefully Kajaani (Kajaani) won’t disappear from the media even if Inderes’ (Inderes) office doors close.
It would be fun to hear a slightly similar Inderespod (Inderes podcast) to the one with Vesola, where you go through the biggest mistakes and successes of your analyst career with someone, and alongside that, Inderes’ (Inderes) journey from an office hotel towards the stock market.
Good luck with whatever you end up doing next, and enjoy the löylys (sauna sessions)! :harviaraketti: :kamuxkajaani: :tokmanni:

Finland’s Peter Lynch! You’ve earned it!

You analyzed companies that aren’t the sexiest this decade, and you did it magically well!

The podcasts you were on were pure gold; I could listen to you from morning till night! I once wrote that Verneri could lead you to a booth where a Marimekko dress, a Kamux license plate, and an Orthex bucket hung, and you could talk about them alone for 8 hours, after which Verneri would send you home.

Thanks for everything!

Thank you, Petri, for your contribution to the Finnish investment scene already at this point! It has been incredibly great to follow your work at Inderes, and we will certainly miss the love that your departure leaves behind. Hat-Pete will live on!!!

Good luck with your future endeavors, Petri!

Inspired by this, I suggest that Petri change his name to Petri Lynch.
I’ll miss Petri’s stories and hat-eating.
Surely we’ll get a hat-eating live stream 2.0 if Harvia breaks 100€?

It almost brings a tear to my eye when my favorite analyst quits.
Great track record and a wonderful “put your money where your mouth is” attitude. I should have followed suit..
The extended interviews and earnings live streams have been brilliant!

A big thank you and good luck with your new endeavors.

P.S. One more podcast, please!

This is quite a blow for Inderes and a big disappointment for us fans. Now there are big shoes to fill in several companies (11 firms!). I would guess Petri is the most popular analyst in the house. The analyst change for Marimekko and Harvia hits home especially hard. All the best in the new position and thanks for the excellent writings and videos!

the journey leads towards heaven.”

I made a haiku to describe the “sauna-bot” since I can’t do it myself.

“If loneliness befalls you
There is a sauna map,
Leading you to the treasure.”

Thank you
