Google has launched a test satellite into space to determine whether AI computing could be run there.
Launched aboard a SpaceX flight and built in collaboration with Planet, the satellite is operating as expected. In the coming weeks, the durability of Google’s AI chips will be tested against factors such as radiation and extreme temperatures. These results will be used in the further development of the project and in the design of potential future space-based computing systems.
