Excellent examples, which brought to mind Ab Lukko Oy, better known as Abloy - simply ingenious.
I agree, it’s a terrible name if the goal is to target international markets. But on the other hand, that company has already been mentioned twice in this thread, so at least the name seems to stick in people’s minds.

I suspect the name change was influenced more by the history of Unitas within SYP than its meaning in Russian.
Russian is not a particularly widely spoken language (and a certain disturbed little man is doing his best to ensure that the desire to learn it is limited mainly to places like North Korea). English, on the other hand, is reasonably well known, and in my opinion, the listing of PI-Consulting years ago was not a very successful choice of name.

There’s a burger joint in Oulu called Rapen Burger. I wouldn’t really want to taste it.
But you find it in people’s names too: Melena, which in medicine means bloody diarrhea.

Laatta lentää (Jyväskylä). From the website: “We are a reliable partner where the tiles always fly as agreed.”
The official name is apparently Laatta- ja kivimestarit Oy, but they arrive at the job site in a car decorated with a flashy “Laatta lentää” (literally “Tile flies,” but also slang for vomiting) slogan.
In Kuopio, there is an animal hospital called Savon Murre (Savonian Dialect / a common dog name).

The Syrjä brothers’ Akun Tehdas Oy.
Background: Eppu Normaali released the album Akun tehdas in 1980. The inspiration for it was CCR’s album Cosmo’s Factory, which had been released ten years earlier.
