German battery manufacturer Varta has been in the eye of a storm due to poor investments. The stock has been in a steep decline recently.
There are now rumors that German automaker Porsche (part of the Volkswagen Group) is stepping in to join the rescue efforts.
According to reports, Porsche’s involvement would leave investors empty-handed. Varta has a business unit called Varta’s V4Drive, which focuses on hybrid battery solutions that the automaker would naturally be interested in.
Can anyone more knowledgeable explain which solutions fall under the Varta V4Drive business? Is this actually a positive turn for Varta that would clarify the business model toward consumer solutions? Which business unit do the traditional 12V and 24V (heavy-duty) starter batteries used in internal combustion engine vehicles belong to?
How integrated are Varta’s products in battery-powered small machinery (lawnmowers, etc.)?
