Investment Fund Portfolio Managers

In this thread, we could gather discussion about investment fund portfolio managers.

Many portfolio managers have strong track records of successful investment activities. Particularly interesting are those portfolio managers who have a long track record, allowing us to speak of genuine skill rather than just short-term luck.

Listed below are (to my knowledge) the portfolio managers who have managed the same fund for the longest time; I limited the review to 20 years, as skill can already be measured within that time. (Of course, these funds cannot be directly compared with each other due to different investment policies.)

Petri Deryng / PYN Elite 26 years (+4449%)
Peter Seligson / Seligson Perheyhtiöt 25 years (+313%)*
Anders Oldenburg / Seligson Phoebus 24 years (+965%)
Janne Kujala / EVLI Finnish Small Cap 21 years (+763%)

*The fund changed its investment policy and name a few years ago (previously it was Seligson Phoenix)

Additionally, there are those who have been in the industry for a long time, who have successfully managed funds but whose track record is not as consistent. E.g.:

Mika Heikkilä (has been in the industry for 26 years)

Each of these portfolio managers has their own investment style, and each has clearly deviated from the index in their investments. I myself have invested in Anders Oldenburg’s fund (have been involved since the beginning in 2001), and I also owned Petri Deryng’s fund for some time.

The floor is open; I’m particularly interested if you can find more portfolio managers who have managed the same fund for over 20 years! And of course, discussions don’t have to be limited to careers over 20 years; I mainly hope for more names for that track record list of mine, but otherwise, feel free to discuss younger talents here too.

EVLI Finland Small Cap and EVLI Sweden Small Cap have long been managed by Janne Kujala. Fund Report October 2025

In Finnish funds with a 10-year return

EVLI Finland Small Cap is second with an annual return of 9.2%.

I don’t remember when Janne Kujala started with those funds, first in one and then moved to the other. It’s quite difficult to find.

Nordic funds with a 10-year return

EVLI Sweden Small Cap B is fourth with an 8.3% return.

Sijoittaja.fi, which evaluates funds, has modestly rated the man as Finland’s best portfolio manager. Suomen paras osakerahasto - Salkunhoitajan teesit osakevalintaan

Among others, I would mention Markku “Kultasormi” (Goldfinger) Kaloniemi, who was a legendary Finnish portfolio manager. He had the FIm Forte and Fim Fenno funds. He retired after selling FIM twice. First to Glitnir, and when it went bankrupt, they bought the company back for a song, and then to S-Pankki. Waiting for FIM to be bought back from S-Pankki for a song.

Well, commendable activity and information listed above. I’ll add a little more to research, if you’re interested. Nordea Nordic Small Cap is a Nordea investment fund, managed by Henriksson, from what I recall. I don’t know if Nordea publishes the name or if there’s an asset management firm behind it. The fund has long been the best in the Nordics, but I haven’t invested in it because of the so-called soft closing, meaning the subscription fee is probably 5%. This came to mind from that fund report, where the fund is still at the top with a 10-year return of 12.4%.
