Investment forum flagging discussion and post-mortem

Thanks for the info, AaroV, forum police. Approximately how many of these “Leaders” are there on this forum (“a few others”)?
Suggestion: Wouldn’t it be appropriate to provide an opportunity to modify the content of a post before deleting it?
I have many arguments on this matter, but I’ll read your response first.

Click on Aaron’s name, then “Leader,” then others with that title.

Excellent. If I drew the right conclusion, there are 13 in total who have the authority to delete a post (without giving the author a chance to correct their writing).
Not even in a court of law is such a dogmatic approach taken.
My proposal to change the practice remains in effect

I wouldn’t compare a discussion forum maintained by a private company to the judiciary. Any entity can freely create this type of forum for themselves at any time and set whatever rules they want within the confines of the law. Then everyone can freely decide whether they want to hang out on the forum under those rules or not. The rules of this forum seem to please many people interested in investing. I myself like a forum that has moderation.

I’m new to this community, and in my message, I verbally stated what make995 presented in their table earlier.
My message has been flagged with the reason “off-topic”?
Could someone kindly enlighten me on what is on-topic and what is not, even briefly, thank you!

Exactly.
My suggestion was written in a tone that perhaps it could improve (moderation)
Not all black n white.

It would probably help the discussion if you told us your arguments as to why this would be better? After all, a really small percentage of messages or even flags lead to a message being deleted, right?

The author has the opportunity to edit the message before deletion (even if there is no warning about it). And if you realize what went wrong the first time, after deletion you can write the same message in a better form?

If I had originally written some obscenities in this message, I would be able to edit and remove that part until the mods deleted it.

I disagree with this. There will be a flag, but the difference between the threads is so great that sometimes you don’t know whether to post a message or not. Then there are at least a couple of threads where you can post many kinds of messages, and this probably applies to quieter threads as well.

Can you clarify?
Hypothetically: if I have posted a message and it has been deleted, I don’t have the skills to edit it when you receive a notification that “message deleted”. I guess in flagging there is a possibility to edit.
Could it be that Android versions are different from Windows/Apple?

I naturally start from the premise that one does not write anything that would be against good manners. And that the writer only writes things that do not offend anyone or question anyone’s honor.

My trades are definitely from brain farts; sometimes I just pull the trigger before I even think. A pretty solid lockup could help me.

Now I’m a bit confused. In the Remedy thread, this was written when Nordea set a target price of 28 euros for the company:

“Here Nordea has a whole ‘gap year’ to try to push the market price down by giving target prices with such discounts. I bet we’ll see Nordea’s funds in the top 100 owner list later this year.”

I replied to this as follows:
“Such subpar tinfoil hat theories can be left unwritten. For a growing game company like Remedy, it’s perfectly justifiable to get very different target prices with calculations. There are still plenty of growth expectations even at 28 euros. It’s just great to bravely take a stand. Inderes’s target price has practically only followed the stock price when it’s going up.”

And my message was deleted. Is it okay to practically insult Nordea’s analyst and speculate that they are lowering the target price against professional ethics so that Nordea’s fund can load up on the stock “at a discount”? Yes, in my opinion, such subpar analyst bashing can still be considered tinfoil hatting, even if the word is a bit sharp. It’s unpleasant to read such text that questions an analyst and actually his profession. And only because the target price differs significantly from Inderes’s target price.

Hi.

The message was likely removed because it didn’t add any new content to the discussion. There was, of course, nothing wrong with your message itself.

The idea is that this forum is not a chat room; every message should be content worth reading. You merely repeated what was in the previous image.

The rules might seem strange and strict at first, but you’ll quickly internalize them. Welcome aboard!

You shouldn’t talk or ask anything here unless it’s positive about the company. I once asked a question in the Sampo thread, and because it wasn’t related to hyping Sampo, I got flagged.

Let’s not give new users wrong advice; perhaps you should bring your deleted message from the Sampo thread here for evaluation, so we can ponder together why it was deleted. There can always be mistakes in flagging and deletions.

Now, at least both messages are visible in the Remedy thread.

Thanks to everyone who responded! I guess I need to be more careful about what I put in which thread…I got so many different pieces of advice.

Common sense goes a long way: use polite language, preferably comment only when you have something new to say, and you can always use the search function to see what threads are available. You’ll get familiar with forum etiquette by spending time here  The forum rules should also be visible to everyone; reading them carefully will get you a long way.

The Tesla topic is open to everyone  You can report all negative news related to the car, including user experiences and individual frozen door handles.

In other discussions, I have found the approach to be considerably more sensible, albeit very strict.

This makes no sense. The best discussions arise when someone (or some people) make bearish arguments with good reasoning, and those arguments are then countered. It doesn’t matter if a post is positive or negative, as long as it’s written appropriately and relates to the topic.

Are you seriously suggesting that in a boring insurance company’s thread, questions should be about hyping the company, and if they’re not, they get flagged? That would have been at least slightly more credible for almost any other company. Sampo’s stock price has been stagnant for at least five years. The thread does get bearish messages, and deservedly so…
