Investment forum flagging discussion and post-mortem

I don’t know why you were flagged. While seeking factual content, your message certainly presents peculiar claims, such as it not being surprising or new for the United States to legally and legitimately recognize Crimea as part of Russia. In my opinion, this is precisely surprising and new, that the military actions of a rogue state are rewarded by giving the land legitimately to them, even in this 21st century.

“Why would Russia retreat when it’s winning” - Because they are not on their own land?

Someone may have interpreted your message as pro-Russian, which I believe goes against the forum’s values.

I don’t know what your message offers to the thread; chatting can be done via private messages. The message could be better if you had, for example, presented how you think Russia is winning. I didn’t bother flagging it, even though it strongly smells like a troll/provocation message.

This is probably the best justification for why the message was removed. If this forum were to travel back in time to the 1930s, I would hope that all opinions even remotely supporting Hitler or Stalin would be censored.

It’s certainly interesting to observe again that Witted and its CEO cannot be criticized in any way on the forum; the entire discussion around the company is just narcissistic circle-jerking. The whole thread is just cult spam and praise for the failed CEO, and every criticism is always flagged even though the company’s performance has been subpar, and its structure and operations throughout its stock market history have been somewhat vague.

The same pattern always repeats here. If you can’t present criticism constructively, then it’s pointless to wonder and get offended when messages are deleted. This is very confusing as this same thing is discussed in this thread at least every other month. Doesn’t the lesson ever sink in?

It’s quite amusing how even “experienced” forum members post messages like this. Witted is unique in that forum members have received direct answers to their views/criticism from the company’s CEO. Not many other listed companies have a similar situation. Calling Harri a failure is quite humorous, even though the stock market journey hasn’t been as desired. In what way has the operation been vague/dubious? As you probably notice, you’ve again made several serious claims without a single justification. How about you at least try to write a text with justifications for your claims, and then post it in the company thread? I promise to be among the first to like it. :upside_down_face:

Sometimes I wonder about the flagging. It feels like some are allowed more than others. I posted a proper link, and it got flagged.

Just a link will be flagged. Comment on the link’s content, then it’s OK.

It was a short text. Perhaps it was perceived as too snarky, even though it was quite mild.

What kind of link and text was it, and in which thread?

In the USA thread. The link was about a police officer injured in the Capitol riot. Published by Senator Cory Booker. A small comparison to California.

It would probably be mostly off-topic to dig up something from years ago with the angle of “but the guys from the other team have also been violent if we dig into history” - especially since those events are well known to the thread’s followers. However, the main point of that thread is to follow current events.

I’m not surprised that you think it’s off topic. In my opinion, it’s not off topic at all… it’s about the actions of the same president in similar (or worse, it was in 2021) situations. Back then, of course, the president was pleased with the people’s antics and pardoned them even though a police officer was seriously injured. And my link concerned that police officer. But whatever. The goalposts always conveniently move.

This was just my own guess, plus perhaps the silly references to individual posters. Moderators moderate what they moderate then. Somehow it feels like some people have great challenges talking about issues and not about posters, and constantly digging up old stuff. It wouldn’t even occur to me to dig up a list of the left’s “peaceful demonstrations” from recent years in the US. The list would be as long as a famine year even if we only took events that escalated to violence…

But no more about these, that USA thread could use a bit more quality discussion.

The reference to you was indeed petty. My apologies for that.

I just posted in the European security situation section, mentioning that Finland is about to buy a huge batch (tens of thousands) of man-portable anti-tank weapons. I mentioned the main competitors and investment potential. One is the unlisted German Dynamit Nobel. The other is SAAB. The post was removed by the administration. Why, one might ask??

I can also write that Finland will buy a nuclear weapon very soon. Without any source, it will surely be removed from the thread. Even if I listed the biggest nuclear weapon states.

On the other hand, the whole thread is quite off-topic when discussing the impact of Finland’s military service on GDP. Statistical trickery that neither creates nor diminishes Finland’s security. Or does Putin think that Finland cannot be attacked when 5% of its GDP goes to defense spending?

The good old flagging discussion is time to dig out from the bottom of the barrel again due to the July heatwaves, and what else would one do on the last Saturday of July. :sunglasses:

In the Withsecure discussion, feelings have been hurt again about flagging, and reasons are given why the forum has acted as it has.

Let’s start by digging out the forum rules.
https://keskustelut.inderes.fi/t/sijoitusfoorumin-saannot-faq-guidelines/5

1. Maintaining a high-quality and clean discussion
Always strive to improve the discussion in some way, no matter how small the action. If you are unsure whether your message adds value to the discussion, it’s better not to send it.

According to the forum rules, this is not the case, why has this been done? So that the discussion could produce added value and the famous swarm intelligence could dig out some added value from the company’s business. Weekly shouting that the stock will soon go to the moon for reason x or that someone made a mistake selling their stocks and criticizes the company just for the sake of criticizing, while the company has not got its own game in order during many years of the cybersecurity supercycle, then the fault is not with the critic. :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s great that the investment target arouses passions; perhaps they could be channeled towards why the company’s business isn’t performing? Why hasn’t Withsecure performed as well as its competitors in growth, and why does the company appear to be a chronic underperformer that just burns cash? In what year will the company start growing again in terms of top-line, and what will the company have done right then?
Perhaps the company could even get some ideas from these discussions, and I would genuinely like to read a good presentation arguing why this would be a 2€ stock, for example, in three years. Just shouting into the wind that people are idiots for not seeing its value is fruitless, and there are other platforms for such discussions.

Indeed, that’s why a separate “hype thread” has been created for stock price changes or cursing stagnation, which has over 30,000 messages of hype!

Although Salkunvartija (Portfolio Manager) came up as an example here, I hope he doesn’t take offense but tries to see this as an opportunity to learn. When passion is channeled in a slightly more constructive direction, it brings a lot more value to the forum. :sunglasses:

P.S. In the future, the flagging finger will be even more sensitive in the said thread.

All moderation policies have their weaknesses. In my opinion, comments have been removed from me without cause. The worst comments have been left hanging on the forum, which is an even greater harm to the community than the previous one. Life goes on. No great literary history has disappeared from the universe.

Hey there!

I’m throwing out a development suggestion to my friend @Sijoittaja-alokas and moderator @Verneri_Pulkkinen regarding moderation.

What value do link posts have where the content of the link is not properly explained? Such “good news + link” posts severely degrade company threads. They have no added value to the discussion and therefore could be removed with a stern warning. Those messages give a chat-like feeling, and that shouldn’t be the case on the Inderes forum :triumph:

A development suggestion also for fellow contributors. If you don’t feel like participating in the discussion about a company, then don’t participate, and in that case, you can completely leave out that one-sentence link post.
