Series and Movies - Entertainment for the Darkness

@itarumaa you can safely finish White Lotus. The second season is even better than the first, and the third is also worth watching.

A great movie; no blustering, no preaching, or other pathos—it doesn’t glorify war, etc.

A different kind of film, though not an odd one—unsurprisingly, Gregory Peck knew his role well, and the others performed excellently too. In terms of charisma, he is on the same level as Steve McQueen, who was about fourteen years his junior.

It certainly added depth to the film that the battle scenes heavily utilized the aforementioned U.S. and Luftwaffe footage.

The movie lacked the excessive theatricality of old films or the cookie-cutter “Hollywood-style” consistency familiar from modern movies. In a way, there weren’t sudden or surprising twists; things just moved forward as they were meant to
probably quite realistic for a movie. Additionally, I think it portrayed the feelings and challenges of military leadership beautifully—not by over-dramatizing, but by showing them as they were—genuinely dramatic (or so I would assume).

Definitely a movie worth watching for most people—perhaps not suitable for the more aggressive, blustering types who seek a sense of victimhood or those who want something constantly happening in a film.
