Let me tell you how it went. Jouni sent an email to all analysts on Wednesday (including me, as I’m currently filling in for Luiro for a bit), where he mentioned he was changing jobs. I immediately assumed there would be an official announcement from the company as well, since everyone needs to be informed about these things. Well, the company only managed to get the announcement out yesterday, and the reaction was indeed surprisingly harsh. At the same time, SaaS companies in the US started declining, so I wouldn’t pin everything solely on the CFO change. Still, I didn’t think it would have been kosher to print that CFO departure in our morning report before the company’s own announcement was out. A real shitstorm could have arisen IF the stock had started falling at the very start of the trading day based on these comments without the company itself having announced it yet. A change of CFO isn’t directly inside information as such, but I still didn’t see it as appropriate to write about it before the company’s own announcement.
