Podcasts: When a Millennial's Attention Span Isn't Enough for Books

I started watching this much-hyped podcast episode and at least initially… it seems really interesting.

This week’s Tuesday episode features Tuomas Sandholm, one of the world’s leading AI and game theory researchers. Sandholm explains how his poker bots revolutionized the entire field and solved imperfect information games in ways previously thought impossible. In addition, AI applications developed by Tuomas are utilized, for example, in kidney exchange programs.

Tuomas also frankly discusses the shock that the bots’ superiority caused in the poker community. The breaking of old beliefs led many professionals to end their careers.

Furthermore, we delve into Strategy Robot, founded by Sandholm, which builds game-theoretic models for defense technologies and even for preventing nuclear war escalation.

It was very nice to meet Peter again. Hopefully, the podcast will also be enjoyable for the forum readers.

Based on Peter’s material, the average PE return has been approximately 11% annually, which is practically on par with comparable stock indices. However, it’s important to note here that the correct benchmark is not broad market indices like the S&P 500 or STOXX 600, but rather a leveraged small-value stock portfolio. The majority of private equity returns are explained by public equity factors (size, value, leverage, liquidity). With a properly constructed stock portfolio, an investor can practically achieve the same return, volatility, and profile of the largest declines (drawdowns) as with private equity, but without long-term capital lock-up.

If you have any questions or comments related to the new podcast, feel free to reach out by email. Of course, I also follow the discussion here. Wishing the thread a good rest of December!
