I just bought/sold (Part 7)

Last Monday, I sold off my US index position entirely. A profit of around €1200. The goal was to pull cash out of an overpriced US market, as quite a bit of nervousness was visible in the markets. I assumed there would be a more significant dip, allowing me to buy Finnish stocks or the US index back cheaper. As you might guess, this move didn’t exactly go as planned. When will I ever learn that it’s not worth trying to time the market with my level of expertise? This move definitely goes into the “investment mistakes” section… Well, I don’t particularly regret the sale since the US is at ATH levels anyway. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to get back into the US index cheaper at some point; right now, the portfolio is too heavily weighted towards Finland and Europe. If I can’t get it cheaper, it’ll be a bummer, and I’ll just have to hop back in at a higher price

I did do something (hopefully) sensible, too. Added 40 more shares of Admicom. A turnaround is budding in the construction sector, and the previous earnings report was better than expected in a very difficult market. I still believe in the company’s growth as the market recovers. International expansion is an option, but I wouldn’t count on it. Now I have 240 shares of Admicom in my portfolio. I’m quite confident, and the last earnings report boosted that confidence. I can’t say if the stock is cheap right now, but my horizon for this one is in the 2030s.

I’m also planning to add to my position in the Norwegian company Cambi ASA, about which @_TeemuHinkula recently wrote a good post for the investment idea competition. However, I’ll check the interim report being released in five days first, and we’ll see then if it’s time to add.
