Orion Oyj (Orion Pharma) has been granted Orphan Drug Designation (Orphan Designation) by the European Commission, following a recommendation from the European Medicines Agency’s Committee for Orphan Medicinal Products (COMP), for its investigational drug ODM-212 for the treatment of malignant mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is a rare and difficult-to-treat cancer. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has previously granted ODM-212 orphan drug status for the treatment of mesothelioma.
