I hate the word toxic, but a strange undercurrent has settled into the Bittium thread, where the analyst is expected to be some kind of share price-boosting cheerleader and is criticized if the recommendation is not to one’s liking. (Disclaimer: I own Bittium)

That’s why it was nice to read the message below:

However, the person most mistaken is the one who assumes that the fundamental requirement of an analyst’s job is to know all future world events perfectly in advance. EDIT: an analyst’s job is to state that in a coin toss, the result is most likely either heads or tails, and to endure the badgering when, after the coin lands, the crowd rages, “How could you not know it was tails that came up?”
