Spot prices for the next day were already set in the afternoon. I was mainly interested in how the potential outage of OL3 affected tomorrow’s spot prices, as it was still being worked on in the afternoon, but I didn’t find a connection.

Nice to meet you
I’m related to Napoleon myself, a corporal and a shorty under 170cm. :grinning:

Napoleon was of average height for his time. His shortness is a well-known myth.

Yeah, but it’s not worth starting those up in the morning because the next day’s earnings will be low. Unless we’re bold enough to already offer the electricity to the pool even though we aren’t “certain” about the startup

December and the Inderes advent calendar are here! :gift: I will try to link all the advent calendar doors here to the coffee room, as surely not everyone has Instagram or TikTok (of course, if you do, be sure to follow Inderes )

These are some of those software release note nuances:

  • Everything is fixed = Similar to “This match is fixed”, i.e. predetermined = works as expected. Bugs are features.
  • Minor changes to improve overall user experience = Nothing works anymore

I was thinking about what books to get for my kid from my hometown to read once we start reading fairy tales. Back in the day, there was a children’s book series called Lasten parhaat kirjat (Children’s Best Books), which I’m sure is familiar to many forum members, whether as readers or listeners.

When I sought help from the “information society superhighway” provided by the tech giants, it was quite a shock.

When someone from Pakistan, Greece, or Texas looks for information about a strange country called Finland and its situation regarding Russia, I dread to think what they’re being served.

Apologies for the politics, but the point is about internet information and its reliability/utility.

With trolling this clever, there’s a real risk that someone will actually believe it :joy:.

I immediately got interested in Fisker myself, but unfortunately, I noticed that there is clearly more debt than cash. Looking via a certain site, Total Debt is 1,178 million USD and cash & cash equivalents are 628 million USD. Net cash/Debt -$550M. So even if the debt were significantly paid down, it would still be over half a billion in the red. And the performance over the last few years isn’t convincing. I don’t think it will survive. I’ll pass…

If you buy a stock when it has dropped 91% in a day without investigating why, you really need to look in the mirror instead of blaming the broker. On the other hand, if there weren’t people trading on such little information, the stock market would be an even harder game than it already is. You might mistake an earnings-related dip for normal volatility, but a share price doesn’t drop to a tenth of its value out of nowhere.

That said, I’ve never been able to personally profit from these Finnair cases or similar situations.

You see many comments on the forum about adding to Revenio positions and how it is cheap now. At the same time, Kempower is being decried as outrageously expensive at current multiples (yes, there are also those who say the same about Revenio). I made a comparison between these two companies using Inderes’ forecasts.

Kempower Revenio
Recommendation Buy Buy
Distance to target price 36 % 6 %
Equity ratio 52.04 % 70.60 %
Revenue growth 2024 38 % 6.65 %
EBIT 2024 16.24 % 28.34 %
P/E 2024e 29.9 26.6
Dividend yield 0 % 1.80 %
EV/S 2024 3.51 5.79
P/B 2024 7.9 5.54
Return on equity 2024 % 30.43 % 20.88 %

Of course, this comparison is heavily based on forecasts, but I see that in both cases, long-term forecasting is equally difficult at the moment. Visibility for the coming months is, however, reasonably good due to the order backlog and, in Revenio’s case, the slowly changing market.
Which one is more attractive for the next five years?

  • Revenio
  • Kempower

Regarding Kempower, one should try to pay to get a peek behind the paywall of today’s paper.. one or 50?

Yeah, I mean, for sure. Someone even bought Finnair at a 40% premium at one point (I don’t remember exactly, but a significant premium anyway), because they couldn’t be bothered to buy the cheaper version.

It’s just quite hard to protect those people from themselves, though it would definitely help if these weren’t advertised as falling. I think Nordnet corrected that figure at least in their views, so the long-term view shows that -90%, but the daily decline is only that -13%. Edit: It started climbing immediately.

 Regarding the Viaplay gap down..
I’ve understood that it is often said that UPward gaps tend to get filled downward over time, and there are indeed surprisingly high percentages of that happening.

Downward gaps are no guarantee.

If anyone else has tax refunds coming and feels like they could momentarily afford to, say, buy some stocks and not all the money goes toward electricity, food, and interest, fortunately someone has once again found good targets for Finns’ money

“the estimated costs for this are estimated to be 3.2–3.5 billion euros per year,” states a statement from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health (STM) to the Parliament’s Environment Committee.”

"The Commission justifies its view by stating that too much lead would leach into the water from the materials. Finland, on the other hand, maintains that lead does not leach in harmful amounts.
”In Finland’s raw water, the amount of lead is extremely small. Also, in the domestic water supplied to users, the lead concentration is only about 5–10 percent of the limit value set in the Drinking Water Directive. "

Don’t worry, surely in the heart of Europe they understand Finland’s exceptional situation and this will still be changed. Or at least in Finland, the authorities and the bureaucracy aren’t so stupid that they would actually burden citizens with a bill of billions and billions for nothing just because some regulation demands it.

Feeling a bit of a cold coming on here too, but I rely on the same remedy my father trusted before me.
So, a little schnapps first thing this morning.
