Regarding the patent publication: In May 2025, Faron announced a five-gene profile that could predict a cancer patient’s treatment response to Bex. At the time, they announced the patent application: “A new patent application has been filed for using this method for patient selection”. The article was published in the Journal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer.
Prior to that, the patent application had been filed, meaning its Priority Date is 04.04.2025.
The patent application includes numerous other genes whose expression could be measured. And cytokines such as TNFa, IFNy, CXCL10.
The data provides a mechanistic rationale to begin clinical testing on whether it actually works in patient care as well—that is, whether responses and overall survival also correlate with these phenomena in prospective studies. Then it could be used to select patients who are likely to respond to treatment. The patent itself does not limit across different cancers, but patent protection is a different matter from efficacy in all different cancers. BEXAR and BLAZE would be well-suited for testing, especially BEXAR’s randomized Phase 2. There is just no information on everything they plan to test; Bono previously only characterized it as “biomarker heavy”.
