I spotted this tiny but interesting Swedish company with a market value of €10 million a couple of days ago.
The company was listed on Spotlight Stockholm in October 2019
Carbiotix AB is a Sweden based pre-clinical stage therapeutics company focused on gut health testing and microbiome modulators to address a range of chronic and metabolic diseases. The products of the company include OneGut, MonthGut, LinkGut, and HealthGut.
On December 10, the company announced it would begin establishing a corn fiber prebiotic production facility, which is expected to be commissioned during Q2 2021.
After that announcement, there has been some buzz with an increase in share trading, and the company’s CEO, Kristofer Cook, has, among other things, stocked up on 175,000 shares, bringing his ownership in the company to 19.85% at the moment.
There is competition in the field, but on the other hand, intestinal diseases have been growing rapidly in recent years.
Some even call it a new public health disease.

For the prebiotic and medical food markets, the total market size is over $25 billion, and increased dietary awareness, greater scientific interest, and clear health benefits are expected to further drive market growth in the coming years.
Carbiotix also advertises that their prebiotics are up to 10x more effective than those currently on the market, while the price remains at the same level as competitors.
Prebiotics certainly have a big market, and I take them myself and can attest to their benefits, even though I don’t have any serious gut issues. However, the claim of x10 effectiveness is quite interesting. Is there any proper data available for that?
There was some mention of it in that video. I couldn’t find any researched facts to support the claim, and of course, my understanding of foreign languages might also be playing tricks on me.
