So, this is the world’s largest gold mining company. Berkshire Hathaway bought Barrick Gold in August. What do you think about the company’s current valuation and potential future direction? Is this a better buy than gold itself right now?
Barrick Gold +7.5% today. Gold itself also rising. Continuing to hold…
Barrick Gold was added today at USD 23.17. The stock has fallen 23% in 2.5 weeks. The reasoning is that it is a company with low debt and high cash flow, and the price of gold is still at a high level even though it has fallen slightly from its peaks.
Jukka Lepikkö bought Barrick Gold today. He apparently sees a good trading opportunity in the stock.
About 10% of Barrick Gold’s revenue comes from copper. Copper prices are currently at an 8-year high. The electric car boom, among other things, is driving up copper prices.
Has anyone else on the forum been following this company? It’s the world’s second-largest gold producer, with mines all over the globe.
Over the past six months, the share price has been a steadily falling knife. Now, based on technical analysis, the stock is oversold, with an RSI below 30.
There’s an issue in Papua New Guinea with the renewal of a mining permit.
Speculation about rising commodity and metal prices could boost mining company stocks. However, precious metals and their production are a different matter; Barrick Gold might not necessarily benefit if copper, uranium, etc., start to rise.
I follow the mining company somewhat out of the corner of my eye. It’s indirectly related to my field. I’m no expert on companies in this sector.
The decline that began in the autumn might be partly related to the collapse of Barrick’s new silver mining project in Chile due to local government issues. A lot of funds and time, including lawsuits, have certainly been invested in that.

There are also “problems” at the current mine in Papua New Guinea. The accusations from local residents are severe, and the situation has escalated.
The company is one of the strongest in its field, but there are many factors involved that are almost impossible to predict, such as metal prices or environmental requirements in a certain region.
The price peak during the summer was likely due to the exceptionally high price of gold. Since then, it has come down from $2000 to $1800 per ounce. The stock appears to be significantly discounted compared to what it was recently, but compared to past years, it has been below the current $20 for most of the time.
From what I’ve seen of the company’s forecasts, gold production would be roughly at this level for the next 10 years, meaning no production growth is anticipated, or it’s not even the intention. Copper, which the company also produces, could provide a boost if its price development remains favorable.
Recently, Warren Buffett sold his position in the company, which he acquired in the autumn. Apparently, he had enough of the decline or the outlook.
What’s making this company’s stock drop? Have future prospects significantly worsened?
I’d say there’s a strong correlation between the price of the stock and gold… I’ve been accumulating this at CAD 28, 26, and 24 as the price has been falling.
Now we got more headwind in the short term… the US 10-year yield is rising. I’ve been stocking up at the same levels and even a bit lower, too bad it’s in USD$![]()
A new line with the same amount for Barrick Gold just appeared in Nordea’s Investor view. Previously, such lines have appeared for Finnish or Swedish companies if there has been a targeted issue. I haven’t seen any news about such a thing anywhere… We’ll have to wait and see what happens…

Could this be related to the “Capital Reduction and Return of Capital” actions in the company?

I received a response from Nordea, stating that it was due to the shareholder having the option to choose dividend payment either in cash or in shares. In that sense, it was surprising that such an extra line did not appear in the previous dividend distribution.
The assumption is that the dividend will be paid in cash, but the shareholder also has the option to receive the dividend in shares instead of cash.
Has anyone been actively following Barrick? Quite a sharp bounce today from the support level, and gold also looks quite bullish technically. Interesting times ahead.
Hello,
I’ve been following it enough to see that the company’s stock price really purposefully follows the price of gold. ![]()
Barrick Gold 2022. Any thoughts, has anyone been buying? The mining sector seems to be a hot topic as an investment now.
Barrick Gold’s results were quite good. ![]()
It started with a strong rise, at least from the market open. ![]()
Operating profit exceeded expectations, but revenue and free cash flow fell slightly short of forecasts. Gold and copper production grew from the previous quarter, and the company naturally received a good price for gold. The company continues to pay dividends and buy back shares, and gold and copper reserves grew significantly, so future prospects look promising.
Top news that could soon lead to a name change for the chain. ![]()
Barrick Gold Corp. has proposed removing the word “Gold” from its name. The company intends to operate as Barrick Mining Corporation in the future, which would better reflect its changing production profile.
The company had strong gold production in the early part of the year and is reportedly progressing according to its production targets.
Costs are falling, and according to the company’s own words, explorations in Canada and Reko Diq are progressing well. Growth projects are also reportedly progressing according to plan, including Pueblo Viejo and Lumwana.

Company’s Own Materials

Are there any owners of Barrick Mining Corporation here, specifically the version listed on the German stock exchange? I own this through OP. The ticker (ABR) changed a few weeks ago to ABRO.DE. At the same time, the return and value went to zero.
I contacted my contact person asking how this could be fixed, but he seems to be “a bit” out of the loop regarding the matter. Have other owners of the Xetra version of the stock had problems?
