Many of you have probably transferred a book-entry securities account from one bank to another over time. The acquisition cost data is lost at that point. How do you track the performance of your investments then? Inderes’ investment school has discussed the topic: How to calculate stock portfolio returns? However, it does not take into account, for example, purchases made during the year. Kauppalehti (Finnish financial newspaper) used to have a virtual portfolio feature, but it no longer exists. Is there a similar virtual portfolio somewhere else or some other good tool?

Hi Lerner,
This is quite an old question, but I’ll answer anyway ![]()
Give the new bank the previous information. It’s a bit of work to collect the information from the original book-entry account (arvo-osuustili), but it’s worth doing so that the information is up to date later.
Has Inderes ever thought about implementing virtual portfolios? I’ve wondered about this myself sometimes.
